My husband was taken off of benicar 40 mg due to sexual disfunction everything else is fine. His doc. put him on 10 mg altace. Is this a safe move? He is 42. Please reply back. I'd rather have my husband than a great sex life.

Benicar HCT contains the active ingredients Olmesartan and Hydrochlorothiazide, this medication is most commonly used to treat high blood pressure and certain cardiac conditions.

You can learn more Olmesartan details here and you can learn more Hydrochlorothiazide details here.

Side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache and dehydration.

And yes, it may cause sexual dysfunction in some people that take it.

You can learn more Altace details here.

As to switching, it should be safe if he's doing so under his doctor's supervision.

The biggest dangers occur when someone just stops taking their medication and doesn't replace it with a different one, following their doctor's instructions.
