Regulating Vicodin For Drug Test

I am seeing a pain management doctor for bulging discs, sciatica and hyper mobility. I was prescribed hydrocodone 5/325 4 times daily. My pain this month has been intolerable so i have taken more than prescribed. I have enough pills left to get me through but I'm worried about the doctor giving me a drug test to make sure i am taking the pills as directed. I do not want to be dismissed from the program and i plan to tell the doctor the strength needs to be increased. So my question is how many days before my drug test should i regulate my pills so it shows accurately on the test? I know i will have to go a few days without, but i can suffer through if it means i will not get dismissed from the program.

The drug detection time listings say that Hydrocodone is usually detectable in urine for approximately 6 days, so even checking the levels, they aren't going to be able to get a reading for much longer than that.

It may vary slightly due to your individual metabolism, overall health, activity levels and etc. but that's the average for most people.

Being honest with your doctor, of course, is the best way to go about it, just tell them the problem you are having with pain. You can always call the office to let them know, rather than wait for your next appointment.

I certainly hope they up the dosage for you.

Thank you so much for the information. I am not sure if they will give me a test or not, i have only been in the program for about 6 months and have never been tested. I would like to tell my doctor about the break through pain I'm having but his demeanor is very cold and unsympathetic. I don't know how to go about telling him. I don't know if i would benefit from a higher dose or taking a lower dose more often. After doing some research on several sites it seems like some people don't need the pain killers and are just after a high. I have tried everything else and nothing has worked. I use to get steriod injections and they only relieved the pain for a few days, i tried pt but because of hyper mobility it made things worse. I don't want my doctor to think i am just after a high. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for taking the time to respond.
