My father was recently put on 'pretazone'. He has heart problems, high blood pressure & is a 6yr lung cancer survivor. What are the side effects & things he should look for while taking pretazone. I'm not sure what strength he is on. In talking with him recently, he did say he has been haveing some 'crazy' dreams. Any help would be greatly appreciated. THANKS!

The correct drug name is actually Prednisone, it is a corticosteroid. It can be used to treat many conditions, including inflammation and allergic reactions.

Some of the most common side effects include: nausea, weight gain, depression and mental confusion.

my 31 year old pregnant neice has been diagnosed with bells palsy - she is carrying twins. she was diagnosed 1/14/10 and has been scheduled for delivery on 2/18/10. Her doctor has put her on pretazone: 16 mg for the first week; then 50 mg for 2 days; then 40 mg for 2 days; then 30 mg for 2 days, etc until 0 mg. She also may have contracted shingles today (one day after diagnosis of the bells palsy). Thank you very kindly for your input & suggestions.
