Yes you should be concerned. You need to try to talk to her in a calm manner and confront her calmly. I'm just saying this because im a teen as well and just trying to help. If she does end up being addicted to the drug you need to take her to the doctor.

Re: carrie (# 2) Expand Referenced Message

I have been on oxybutynin for about a week and my mouth is incredibly raw and sore. Swallowing is painful as well. I don't see this side effect listed. Almost anything makes it worse. I am miserable. Has anyone had these issues?

I have just been prescribed Oxybutynin for constant hot sweats but can't find any feedback on it being used for this purpose. Do you know if hot sweats are one of its indications?

I have been on oxybutynin for almost six months. My mouth is also dry..as the Mojave Desert!! Like you, my throat is horribly painful and swallowing is an issue too. I started a tic is what I called it that I am constantly cleaning my mouth with my tongue all day long. Horrible..nothing is there but it feels like it. I also have a phlegmy cough. Oxybutynin is the only medicine change I have had in the last six months since this started. My other two meds I have been on for years and no problems. Today I stopped by my local dentist and they said I had no issue going on such as a yeast infection nor anything else. They could see that my tongue is tender from the constant movement all day and my throat looked aggravated. So I went by our local Homeopathic Pharmacist and explained what was going on. He sold me Hydrate II drops to add to my daily water drinking. He prefers the Hydrate Spray but was out of it at the time.He says the oxybutynin is designed to control our urine output..it will also dehydrate our cells. Suggested I stop the oxybutynin and to use these drops to restore my dehydrated cells until I can talk to my Dr. about another alternative. I am so hoping it works as this has been awful to deal with. The over the counter moisture stuff for the mouth does not work but for a few minutes. I chew a pack of gum in two days. So sorry for anyone else going thru this.

Bad moods can be from no food no nutrition. I know it all to well unfortanatly. My whole life no appetite after my stroke in my right thalamus. I would eat if I were you. No good comes out of our moods without food to feed the brain.

I was prescribed oxybutynin 5mg twice daily, but I haven't taken it since Saturday morning. Just recently I've told my doctor and he's changed it, but I'm still getting side effects.

You might be able to help me. I have been taking this medication, prescribed for OAB, for roughly 2 weeks now. I noticed 3 days ago it started burning when I peed, and I had the urge to pee alot! Now it's burning BADLY all the time, and there is blood only when I wipe.
Should I go to the ER, or wait till the morning and call my doctor?

We believe she was given the wrong meds for about 4 days...upon reading the effects of overdose of the Oxybutynins all of these things happened to my Mum...we are very very angry...advice please.

Hello I've done reflexology for 17 years now. My clients who had this issue of sweating I would recommend they take Zinc supplements. You can go to a health food store or research on line. Best of luck.

The best thing you can do is make the doctor who is prescribing the oxybutynin aware of the situation and ask him to stop prescribing it.

You seem to be familiar with oxybutynin abuse, based on your post. I have a family member who is doing the same. Is there a chance you would help me?

Here is a quote from a pharmacist found on this very page if you scroll down, just in case you missed it. I'm not a professional, but I know from experience that Oxybutynin can be abused:

"Hello I am a licensed pharmacist. If the medication was not prescribed to your daughter for urinary incontinence, there is reason for great concern. Many young people are currently using oxybutynin to achieve a sedated feeling or "high" because of the way that it acts in the body. When taken in excess, it can cause seizures and psychosis. Please talk to her ASAP."
