Hey Gunney, oxymorphone is a synthetic derivative form of morpine it is an analog synthetic. It differs from morphine in it that it has less side effects than morphine or heroin. It is not morphine but its chemical makeup differs by two strands. if you were allergic to morphine it is rare that you would not be allergic to oxymorphone or hydromorphone unless you were allergic to the histamine effects that the morphine produces.

Update to my post # 281.
Since the post I asked my MD change me upto 80 mg 4 x a day to eliminate my early withdrawal and slight increased pain.

Now on a regular day these pill dosages seem to be working although I still have to take my 10 mg oxycodone every 4 or 5 hours.

However when I have bouts of loose bowels the pills pass through my system. Too fast to work and then I have to take 80 mg every 3 hours not 6 hours.
Believe me that after being constipated for 11 years, occasional diarrhea is a blessing.
Even with the pills and liquids and fibre. The only thing that works is the clear liquid magnesium.
I have to say another thing..... For those of you that have the audacity to post sniffing and abusing these meds... Thanks a lot a..holes. you are why the meds don't work anymore.

Also I hope DEA gets your names and reports you to your doctors.
Thanks.

I have been battling lower back pain for 15 years. I had surgery in 2000 (fusion). It failed and i had it re-done in 2012. I have been a patient at a pain clinic for 2 years. I take 1-2 Norco 10mg (Vicodin without so much tylenol in it.) up to 5 a day. (Always seem to need more. I usually run out, but the w/d aren't as bad as other more potent medicines which is an advantage. Once I get refilled, it works ok, but my tolerance always seems to kick in and they stop working 1 week into the month. I just switched from the OP 10mg which I swear is a placebo and they work pretty good. I like not feeling high from these medications but sometimes it just affects me differently. I was on OC 20's in 2000 for 4 months and was seeing ghosts and having real trouble when I stopped taking them. Physically Ill!!! I got through that and feel I have found a balance between pain and meds that won't take me over. Bottom line is I need to be more fit and do some SERIOUS physical therapy. Taking a pill is easy, but they make us lazy and complacent. By the time you sober up from them you see everything clearer and realize they are sneaky in how they affect you.

In truth our healthcare system (namely the doctors and PA's) is failing the "addicts" and "normies" such as yourself! Narcotic pain medication IS NOT INTENDED (or appropriate) TO TREAT CHRONIC PAIN! if you are prescribed and/or taking narcotic pain meds on a daily basis for more than three to five days it is doing more harm than help. Narcotic pain pills are effective for ACUTE pain. This does include acute flare ups of a chronic pain issue.

Shelia, its called oxymorphone ER it has to be written just like that mine are the 30mg so its written oxymorphone 30mg ER per 12hrs
A lot of pharmist say their is no generic but that's only half true in reality their i'sent a generic Opana but oxymorphone is its own entity.
So I did just fill the oxymorphone the other day and had no problems filling and was not told anything by the pharmist about having to switch or anything like that so I'm super happy. I also just went to my doc yesterday to get my monthly scripts and nothing was said by him about having to change medications so another good thing their. My filling dates are all messed up from previous problems being able to fill. But so far so good

Yes I have proof with all the pictures New Jersey the Law's have changed and a lot of Pain Management doctor's are afraid to lose their Licenses. So there's a cap on how much can be prescribed and now the insurance companies aren't going to cover them and as of now I have to pay cash out of my pocket for Soma's my muscle relaxer which is $43 and some change.

I thought this was a forum for medication, more specifically, Oxycontin OP. When did I get on an Evangelical, Christian site? Really, not EVERYBODY is a Christian, in fact, it is a MINORITY religion.

I would recommend you find the appropriate site to push all of your fairy tales and simply ASSUME that everyone believes in the religion you think they should.

Seriously, save it for church, or people who are interested in religion.

Trigger:

You feel sorry for me??? That is hysterical, when you talk about things that you have absolutely no knowledge about. There is a time and a place for religion and God, but this forum is absolutely not the one.

I am the one who feels sorry for you. You people are like sheep, believing whatever those hypocritical, evangelical (usually homosexual) preachers are spewing at you. And you take the bait! If it wasn't so sad, it would be comical!

This is a site to help inform people about this subject matter, not to pass out Bible-Pamphlets! Go door to door and do that, or get involved in your local health department's volunteer services, if you truly want to make a difference.

Your religion should not be on this site, as I could care less what anybody's person beliefs are, with regards to spirituality. You have your opinion on religion and I have mine. If you don't have any scientific, empirical information to provide, I would suggest keeping your religion in your pants and doing the right thing.

Unless you can prove it, it means nothing to me.
