Opana 40mg Vs Oxycontin Op 80mg (Page 13)

my Dr prescribed Opana 40mg as alternative to Oxy 80 mg 2 twice a day which I would insufflate - I didn't tell him this of course. he claimed them to be just as good if not stronger can any one share about opana 40mg

I am on percocet, fentynal patches, and WAS ON OPANA, I know that oxymorphone is way stronger than oxy, I've been on 6 40mg opanas a day until they dried up, than my Dr put me on oxy, all I was trying to say is that I don't LIKE the oxy, that I can't wait to have my opanas back, I have a great Dr and was on the perfect pain regimine, until the opana mix up. Thank you for your concern, and help though. But I do my research on any medication I put into my body, I'm not an abuser.

Percocet with Oxycodone I.E. Oxycotin with Tylenol! Nothing more...Oxycodone is Generic for Oxycotin and in MY experience, Percocet is stronger than Oxycotin. I have taken 80 mgs of Oxycotin (Since they changed the formula) and made them less potent! I can hardly tell I am taking one because my body has built a tolerance to Percocet, I take 3 10/325 @ one time to get the effects of Percocet! I LOVE OPANA 30 mgs! It works better than anything...so far! The problem with Percocet and Oxycotin is that they are fast acting opioids! Generally they only work for 3-6 hours! Opana's work for ME for about 7-8 hours...I take the Percocet for break through pain!! I cannot take Opana every 12 hours as prescribed because I cannot void! SO I take the first Opana of the day, then about 8-10 hours after I take Percocet for my night time pain relief because I am sleeping! Then when I wake up, I take my Opana...My schedule works great for me! I am so thankful my insurance pays for the Opana! Now they are changing that formulation around, I pray it works the same! There really isn't too many Opioids I haven't already tried! I HATE to hear doctors saying that Opiates don't work for Chronic pain...BULLS***! I have Chronic Pain along with Fibromyalgia...the list goes on and on...If it works for YOU, take it...Don't listen to everyone else!!

Been on 10-660 vicodin for years, started to not be as effective. Dr. put me on 2 caps. Oxycodone , total 10 mg. every 6 hrs. No relief. It was like taking aspirin. So then he changed it to Opana er 10mg. w/ opana 5mg. for breakthrough pain, again no relief. So now I'm back on the Vicodin 10-660's again because they do help some... Has anyone else just not responded to the "codone" series for pain?? I have bad fibromyalgia burning on my skin and I'd really like to find SOMETHING to give me some relief. Thank You. Sue

Have you tried Opana 30 or 40 mgs? You weren't on a strong enough dosage! As for the Vicoden, its a short acting drug, for the immediate pain relief! You need something that is going to take care of that pain. Have you tried Dilaudid? Its a pretty good pain reliever! I too, have severe horrible Fibromyalgia that literally keeps me down on my back for a few days until the worse is over with. There are several drugs out now for Fibro pain, such as Savella~works great, Lyrica, Cymbalta, Neurontin! I have tried them all, but the side effects are the worst for me, therefore I am sticking to my pain medication routine that works for me...You have to try everything you can to get the relief that is the best for you!! Good luck, don't give up, there is SOMETHING out there that will work for your pain!!

Try taking Opana 40 mg with oxcycodone 15 mg for break through, abouy three to four times a day, This should help you.God bless and good luck.

Everyones like im in real pain and I have pain, stupid junkies, I cant use it for my pain now. Its all your fault! Shame on you. Well you know what first of F$%@ You all. You ever think the JUNKIES could be using it for pain??? How about emotional pain??? Do you ever experience that kinda pain?? What if some junkie is buying it off the street because they can function and have energy and are numbed to the horrible fact that some kidnapped and raped their baby girl of 5 years old. Are you gonna tell me thats not pain?? I think I would rather have physical pain in my body than to ever EVER have a child that has been murdered?? I bet people would take their knee injury or there back problems or the fact that because of pain its hard to get out of bed. How do you think a mother of murdered child get out of bed every morning? not in pain? I think Id take the bad back, knee, hands, spine pain, then the emotional pain of losing a child. You people are heartless. What tell them to see a shrink or go on a antidepressant.? What IF THEY ARE JUST LIKE YOU and tryed a whole bunch of pills before they found out that the oxycontin was the best way the could deal with life day to day. Shame on you! Shame on all of you!!

Go to a frikin counseled, this forum is about PAIN MANAGEMENT, NOT EMOTIONAL PAIN, SO IF I WERE YOU I FIND A DIFFERENT AVENUE, AND YOU ARE A JUNKIE LIE TO YOURSELF ALL YOU WANT, SORRY THAT HAPPEND TO YOUR CHILD, BUT I LOST ALL THREE OF MINE AND I DON'T NEED OXY TO GET OUT OF BED, I GO TO A COUNSELER, AND AM ON THE APPROPMRIATE MEDS FOR EMOTIONAL PAIN!!!!!!!!! I was on vicodin 10/325 10/dayfor years,also take cymbalta. Couldn't figure out why I was so up and down,agitated,depressed. So we came to the conclusion since I had been on the vicodin so long it was ineffective for pain relief,my body began metabolising it to fast therefore w/in an hour of two of taking it my body was withdrawing wanting more,thus creating all the side effects. So we started the journey of finding what works best for me. It took a lil time but so happy to found the solution and be feeling good! I now take opana 40mg twice a day. We started with oxycontin15mg I think,did nothing so we doubled it which was still ineffective. Then started with opana20mg it took the edge of but didn't relieve pain completely, once we doubled that to 40mg it works great,sometimes on a good day I done need the second dose bcuz it works all day. Only drawback is takes about an hour to start working so I usually set alarm to take it then go back to sleep for an hour. So much better only taking 1-2 pills a day than 10+,didn't like my kids seeing me constantly taking pills and have that many around the house. These days u have to be so careful with teenagers,not that I think my son would take them but u have to consider their friends and other people. Good luck!

Great idea because a lot of teenagers are going into their parents medicine cabinets and having so called "pill partys" where they will all bring a med that days on the bottle will make drowsy and put them in a bowl or whatever and they don't even know what they are taking,its very scary stuff, that's why I lock mine up even around adults, cause you never know about them either, one had my pain meds stolen before. It's not fun! But I totally agree with you and I'm so happy the opana is back and hopefully here to stay, its the only thing I've found that even touches my pain. Just to let you know I reported you for abusing all of us that are legitimately on pain management, you don't belong here, and all your doing in numbing the loosing of your daughter, you need professional help, I feel very sorry if you have other children and they have to live with a mother that's out of it all the time!!!!life foes not stop because you had to bury a child ppl do it everyday, and you don't see them popping pills, I think your calling all of us junkies because your one and your jelous that we have legit pain that we can get our scripts from a Dr and your probably on the street paying out the a** for them, so let me ask you a question? Omg stop your whining!!! I wasnt talking about myself! Are you kidding??? I was just making up a scenario because nobody is ever understanding or empathetic to people that do abuse this pain killers. Teenagers that are partying -no thats a huge danger people should be aware of and get a lock box. I just think that all these people (you call junkies) we most of them started doing drugs for a reason...........they were molested as a child .........w/e the story, you cannot judge until you have walked in their shoes. They obviously need help and its so sad that all they would get would be some old bat like you screaming at them cuz now you cant have your pain meds for your sore a.s.s. N lady if you had 3 of your children die and you have time to sit here and get mad at the junkies cuz u dont have ur pain meds is absolutely astounding !!!!!!!!!!!

Let me tell you something, I WAS MOLESTED,BEATEN, AND EMOTIONALLY ABUSED AS A CHILD,and was taken away from my family by the state so I don't want to hear your whining and monipulating ways that all YOU JUNKIES HAVE, go to detox and get clean!!!!!!! I was unfortunatly in a very bad roll over car accident, my car rolled ten times down a cliff, I did not ask to be on these meds or in the condition I am in, I would trade anything to have my children back and live a normal life without popping pills everyday, so talk about who walking in who's shoes?!!

I absolutly hear what your saying, and thank you so much for for your work at the world trade center:) can you believe the gauld of these ppl on here that say they need pain meds for emotional pain? It's ludicrous!!!! It's like go to detox, get a job and be a productive part of this society, I am and I'm on a crap load of meds because I have rods and plates all through my back and neck, and have since I was 26, I just get so mad because its because of ppl posting about abusing these meds that they are changing them, dugh, the Dr,pharmacists, and drug company's look at these forums and see this, and that's why were in the boat were in now. ChronicPainGirl--Just read your post from Oct 2010.I too have RSD or CRSPS as they are now calling it.Got it from a botched surgery in Sept 1995(Simple 17 minute heel spur surgery&Doc sneezed while the scalpel was INSIDE my foot&sliced a bunch of nerves THAT I DID NOT ASK HIM TO!!!!!!!) I started with just crutches after the surgery--of course the doc didn't tell me about his sneeze--then my pain got so incredible I was confined to my bed,the couch&a wheelchair& they said I would never walk again.After yrs&yrs of diff 'specialists',diff RXs,diff type of therapy& so on,,,,here I am 17 yrs later & I am using a cane,but slowly deteriorating.I have an exam next week for a power wheel chair.My RSD has spread to every single joint on my body,all my limbs are affected & the worst these days is that if I bend a limb,at the knee,at the ankle,at the finger,at the wrist,at the hip,WELL I think you get where I'm going.I've been on all the narcotics they make,currently taking 6-10/325mg Percocet & 4-10mg Methadones for Pain Management.Went to Pain Clinic yesterday and for the 3rd appt in a row I complained about the intense pain, how it's gotten worse,it never really goes away to the point I can function--like everyday stuff,,cook dinner,housework,change sheets,grocery shop,laundry.Anyways,,,,been looking on line alot about the diff RXs ppl have used&especially for anyone with RSD (not many ppl are dx with RSD they usually get fibromyalgia/arthritis,etc) and found this forum and was so happy to see your post.How are the Opana's working for you now?I'm curious to know because it was one of the RXs I've seen many times now on diff forums and I'm wondering, from actual fellow RSD sufferer,how the opana's work?
