Updated

Okay I will start off by saying this drug scares me because it has not been out for very long. I have Afrial Fib which is not behaving I can be 70 beats one min and regular and the next I will be at 190 and in atrial fib and flutter. this is my last chance at a med I have tried all the others I usually end up in the ER two or three times a week. I have had one ablation so far. If anyone else takes it please let me know what it is like. I am starting it on Tuesday.

To Roberta-That seems a rather harsh assessment. My first CV only lasted 4-6 weeks with no Rx support. My second has lasted over 3 months on the Multaq. I started it about 6 weeks prior to the CV and have been in NSR since the CV. Not a fraud from my perspective!

Well, I was surprised at what the doctor said, but I am just the messenger here. I have never heard a doctor use the word fraud before!

On a positive note, I have taken Multaq for six months and I stay in NSR and I'm pleased.

I posted on here awhile back about some side effects I thought I was having on multaq. I was finally taken off of multaq and within 2 weeks I could finally walk more than a block without being fatigued and my brain started working again. I'm so happy for those of you without these problems but I just couldn't handle it anymore. I'm a preschool teacher and missed 3 weeks of work because of this. I just couldn't function. My best to the rest of you....

After being in AF for 9 months I was put on Multaq in prep for electrical cardioversion. Doc said there was a 30% chance that the Multaq could itself convert me to normal. After 3 weeks, it did just that! It's been three more weeks now in NSR. Here's hoping it holds.

I am 53 years old with a history of cardiomyopathy, and thousands of PVC's a day. Also have mitral regurg. I have been on many medications over the years, toprol, rythmol, sotolol, flecanide and amiodarone. They all stopped working after a period of time except amiodarone. That caused me to have an overactive thyroid. I have been on Multaq for 9 months and seems to be working very well. I too was very tired at first, so I take half dose in the morning and full dose in the evening. I had stomach problems in the beginning but that went away after a few weeks. The only issue I currently have is the itching, I am willing to deal with that at this time since I am able to sleep through the night without being up every hour or so with the palpatations. I am thrilled that something works for me! Best of luck to everyone.

Deb, let's talk about that itch. I have it, and I think Multaq is the cause. I have itchy, crusty spots at symmetrical locations on my upper arms and my lower legs. By symmetrical I mean the same place, right and left. Would lowering my dosage help? Anybody out there with the same annoyance?

Just started Multaq. I'm a beginner on A-Fib, just now being prescribed as a result of about a four-day bout in & out of A-Fib, with the in winning out until a 10hr chemical conversion in the ER last weekend. I had flutters before that, but regular rhythm had generally won out. I am 63, i was on a ski trip at Snowbird, Utah & didn't get much sleep. I had been a pretty consistent exerciser prior to this, believing that this cut down on arrhythmic problems. I had been drinking a fair amount of decaf & beer.

So far i don't have much reaction to Multaq, & though i've felt some jumps in my chest i've stuck in sinus rhythm. One cardiologist in the ER suggested catherter ablation.

Now at the 5 week mark of NSR...after 8 mons of persistent AF.
No side effects...was on Multaq strictly as a prep for elec cardioversion...converted me before EC was done. My cardiologist told me that happens in approx 30% of cases. So far,I'm a big fan!!! (See my earlier post). 62 y/o runner (including marathons) hoping to renew my running again...starting off slowly this week...

Anyone in USA used Flemeton for Atrial Frib? Having a pacemaker, then cardioversion I;m now on a Warfarin & Metoprolol which causes me all kinds of problems--dizzy, weak, sick to my stomach etc. Have a 90 day supply of Flemeton but haven't used it yet, as keep reading too much negative about it. Anyone got it? Thx

Hi Will,
I never heard of Flemeton and when I looked it up, I found nothing negative about it. It said that it is all natural, from New Zealand and comes with a 100% guarantee, which in itself is a red flag. But I am always interested in alternative treatments. What did you find negative on it? Good luck with your A-fib.

Hello Will,
My cardiologist said that it would be OK to give Flemeton a try. It didn't help my a-fib condition at all. I also tried another natural dietary supplement called Fibratax that seem to help for a few months only. Mutaq makes my a-fib worse. Amiodarone (150mg/day) is the only thing that helps me but only keeps my heart in NSR half of the time. Good health! Lon

9 days into Multaq, i've had some PVCs (this am) & had 3 hrs of afib on Friday night after a moderate bike ride. I'm starting tot question how effective it is for me, but side effects don't seem too much of an issue.

I took 500 mg of multaq 2 x a day, had a rash after 6 week, my muscles protein went from 75 to 18,000 was put in the hospital for 6 nights to flush my body of the toxin 's I lost 60% of my muscles
s and 10 pounds, I can't walk well, i need to rebuild my body which i have been told by the doctors the damage multaq caused was like being in a coma for months, I am weak and not steady on my feet. Do not mix cholesterol medicine with multaq i called my doctor 3'x he didn't know he was not to mix blood pressure meds, metroprolol/coumadin /vytorin/ now i am told i will not be able to take cholesterol drugs for the next year because i have so much damage to my muscles. HAS ANYONE ELSA ENDED UP IN THE HOSPITAL FROM THIS DRUG MULTAQ ?

Mary, what a nightmare for you. I have never read or heard that you cannot take cholesterol meds or coumadin with Multaq. My husband took both when he was taking Multaq. He was weak, extremely tired and zombie like when he took it. He has been off it for a while now and is back to his old self. I wish you the very best and a complete recovery.

Mary, that sounds scary. I take Multaq, Dioxin, Metoprolol, Coumadin, and Lovastatin (choleserol med). I've done very well for eight months. My only complaint is an itchy eczema that may not even be related to the Multaq. I never go into a-fib now.

I meant Digoxin. Dioxin is poison ;-)

I was on Multaq after being cv. I didn't like the side effects of being light headed and stopped taking it. Several weeks later I went back in to AF. I got CV again about a month ago and went back into AF. This time I am taking it in spite of any side effects. Side effects don'tt seem too bad this time and am hoping for the best.
