Hi Suboxonegrl, That sounds like a good deal. I have Humana Ins. and allthough they pick up some of the cost I,m still paying a lot per month. I,ve checked out some of there other plans and they don,t really meet my needs.
I may check out BCBS and see what they got to offer.

It is unfortunate that you are so misinformed and giving people incorrect information. Suboxone (or any form of Buprenorphine is a semi-synthetic partial opioid agonist that is used to treat opioid addiction being used to ease withdrawal. However, it is also being used "off label" to treat pain. This is why to prescribe it for withdrawal a doctor needs a special certification but it is legal for a doctor to prescribe it for pain management without that special DEA number and special certification. I have been on Suboxone for 10 years for severe back pain and it works as well for me as the Oxycone was. It isn't free of side effects but it is less dangerous than taking high doses of oxycodone (found in Percocet, or hydocodone (found in Vicodin. Please be careful to not give medical advice. Especially when it is inaccurate.

he said the card would only work once a month. he doesnt have enough money for 30 so he would have to pay for the rest without the coupon. I would switch coupons after the first time though. You can us a different coupon per visit so make sure you research them , The one from Suboxone may not always be the best either. Subutex is covered by insurance though and even with my insurance if my dr HAD to give me suboxone he would just have to fill out a pre authorization form to get it approved. I dont know what kind of insurance you have, but I for one have a lot of prescriptions and do not like being taken advantage of by bigpharma and insurance companies so its worth it to do your research.

I've been there myself with all the narcs since 1996 for severe chronic pain. Do your research people! Yes, the U.S. is about 10 to 15 years behind because of the FDA. Many country's have used Subutex for years with grate success!! I did mucho research before I switched at a pain clinic here in Florida. Florida Detox is one of two in states that are the leaders in using Subutex (at high doses) for chronic severe pain. They started me on 6 8mg pills a day!! Too much and was able to take almost just half that that opioids couldn't do! The UK states anything over 32mg is considered a lethal dose over there. People, it WORKS, BUT, after years it does require a slight higher dose but nothing near how fast the body got used to opioids. Yes, it is very very expensive and most insurances won't cover it. I'm lucky and work comp pays for mine. I NEVER count pills anymore after switching to Subutex. I have stopped it also and yeah, the withdrawls are just as bad as opioids. I DEF recommend switching!

I am currently taking 60 mg of Morphine Sulfate. I was on 100 mg of Morphine Sulfate. Because I did a careless thing by taking a Zanax not prescribed, my Doctor bumped me down to 60. I immediately started withdrawals. Long story short, I must go to a Suboxone clinic. I am very afraid and nervous that this medication will not deal with the pain. I was a model patient for 10 years but not thinking about what I was doing has gotten me into this. I have some hope by reading your post that it will work for me.

I hurt my neck surfing 28 years ago. Excruciating pain in thorac ic area, can't hold my head up and arms go numb from so much pain. So my pain doctor took me of my 3 30mg of oxicontins and 4 10/325 percocets and I had a good 3-6 hours a day that was pain free. Had some extra life challenges and the pain kept bleeding through so pain doctor said "Let's try Suboxone. I have 100% success rate on getting folks off of oxicontins," etc. I'm five weeks in and nothing is taking care of my pain. I'm in agony and wonder how long it takes to get the Suboxone to work on my pain. I'm on 8 mgs 2x day....would more help? Any suggestions? Is Suboxone supposed to work on everybody's pain? What could be happening with me that it's not working? Thanks, Soozi

Suboxone definitely works for pain. I chose 32 mgs a day over hydromorph and dilaudid.

Not true! Everyone's pain is different, so you can't say whether or not Suboxone will help their pain.
I have been dealing with severe chronic pain since I was about 8 years old. I have 5-6 different conditions that cause chronic pain and I've been on 24mg a day Of Suboxone.
It helps with my everyday pain but when I have flare ups my daily dosage isn't enough. If you could get my doctor to raise my dosage to 32mg a day, I think it would help better on my real bad days.
Just so we've clear, the reason I started on Suboxone was because I was heavily abusing my opiate pain meds for over 20+ years. Because I have pre-existing conditions however, my dosage Of Suboxone reflects that. Not just anyone can get 8mg 3× a day.

Maybe you ought to step the f*** back and realize that had drs prescribed me Suboxone or Subutex at 24 instead of oxys, f***ing diladid, and FENTANYL, I might have had a chance to lead a normal life. Now, I have been so strung out because of s*** Dr's that I found myself using f***ing H just to get through the days when I couldn't get to the Dr's or something happened. I'm so sick of you f***ers whining about Suboxone. Stupid s***, buprenorphine is an opiate antagonist and works like painkillers just isnt so f***ing abusive! Oh, and by the way, I ASKED Dr after Dr for subutex or suboxone instead of the hardest opiate painkillers and every single one of them said NO IT'S NOT GOING TO HELP PAIN! I tried for 3 years and hundreds of Dr's to get suboxone for pain and it's damn near impossible so before you go sticking up for the government drug dealers, the scum who instead of prescribe Suboxone and keep a good kid from the horrors of becoming addicted to H, hand out dilaudid, oxys, percs, morphine, and fentanyl. I grew up in a upper middle class town, never knowing what the f*** H was until the day my medication was stolen and I was deathly Ill so instead of suffering, said f*** it! You people are the one's to blame for the those banging dope. Look in the mirror, you're not only an enabler and supporter of this H f***ing epidemic, you're the roots of the sickness in general. Try doing your homework or actually livin the bulls*** life in the dope game before you chime in with some f*** s***. I've yet to meet a fellow junkie who is happy with the path that led to him bangin dope, but I have met many who have been there at the hands of one of YOUR Dr's!

Bupernopherine is the generic form of Subutex. And I was wrong, it's $32.00 for a 30 day supply, however, before I moved to the middle of no where I bought 30 for $18.00 at Walgreens. What I meant by my text, is buy generic Subutex, it's affordable. Subs are a HUGE govt/pharm scam. A dirty scam that should be exposed.

I am in your exact same position. I have to do something because my doctor just keeps increasing my pain meds. I do have chronic pain but I also know I have developed a serious addiction. I am so scared and confused right now. Do I go inpatient, where do I go?

Whaaat... H
What state are you in? I get 84 a month, and they're outrageous. Like $700 crazy. I wonder if the Dr would be willing to write me subutex? Have you ever tried suboxone for a while befor? I seriously have a Traumatic brain injury and severe debilitating nerve pain and nothing helps. Muscle relaxers, valium, 1 or 2mg Xanax, 80mg ibuprofen, caffeine, I dunno, I am damned if I do, and damned if I don't.

Scam!! Yes! I'm calling conspiracy! If we have this drug (Bupe) that can help with some types of pain (as well as an antidepressant) that is used in other countries as a pain med WHY wouldn't Dr's try that BEFORE percocet or oxy or whatever?? There is far less tolerance building along with so many other benefits over oxy. The only reason is $. Lets get the half the world addicted to oxy's ($) they'll build a fast tolerance and need more mg (more $) until they have to go to rehab (tons of $$) and THEN we'll get them on Suboxone ($$$) Not to mention there will have to be "special Dr's" that can prescribe it and 75% of them will be CASH ONLY. And what a coincidence that H has made it's magnificent comeback! It's NOT a coincidence. It's a sick government plot.

I read on a post where u said you were taking a high dose of suboxone a day. I have a question for you. my dr prescribes me 20mgs which is 2 8mgs and a half a day. in other words I get 55 every 22 days. But when I first get them i will take 3 or sometimes 4 a day. I have been having excruciating pains between my shoulder blades. i try to only take 16mgs a day, and i know that is even a high dose, but i cant quit that thinking if i take more i will feel better. almost like chasing a high that is never there, but everyday i still try again. its really stupid. I end up having to buy more, bc i run out b4 my next appointment.. I guess i have a VERY bad addictive behaviour. But I just wanted to know that when you took 24 mgs a day or ever took more than that, did you have any bad pains in your back or anywhere else? I really wish I could get to taking just 1 a day for now. I feel like Iam taking too much and that is what is causing my pain...any help you can give would be great. I have been on subs for almost 4 years, got down to 4mgs a day 2 years ago, but the clinic wanted me to come once a week for counseling, which i couldnt do, so I went somewhere else and started over on 20mgs. I cant get it out of my head that taking more will make me feel better, after trying it over and over and knowing it does nothing. I cant sleep for more than 3 to 4 hours, then ill get up for 2 hours and then get tired again and sleep another two hours. etc this is getting rediculous. please help me out! I also would like to note that since I started taking suboxone in 2010, I have never used any other drugs since, so its helping in that area at least! Thank You! and good luck to you in your recovery

I take subutex for pain. Started two months ago at 2 times a day 8mg pill. My doc up'd the dose to 3 times a day 8 mg, which came out to be 24 mg a day. Now, I am at 4 times a day=32 mgs a day which is the recommended max dose per day. It does help me with my back pain at 32mg a day. 24 mg helped about 80% of the pain, and that's why I went up to 32mg.

Doc will keep on trying to find out just the right dosage to control the pain. That's if you have a great PM doc like mine!

It makes me sad to read about the ignorance, suffering and stubborn doctors who refuse to listen to their patients.

Some facts: ANY doctor can prescribe Suboxone/Subutex. When the drugs were first introduced, the FDA approval was for CHRONIC PAIN. The ONLY requirement for "special FDA/government approval" is if the doctor is going to use it for DRUG ADDICTION.

The pharmaceutical company that first produced Suboxone/Subutex is no longer calling on and educating physicians because generics are now available and it would be a waste of money for them to send their sales reps to doctors to discuss the drug.

Don't be afraid to demand that your doctor treat you effectively with meds that resolve your pain and don't make you sick. They are YOUR employee and are responsible for resolving your health problems effectively with their medical training.

Suboxone/Subutex have been on the market for over 7 years (time required before generics can be made) for treatment of chronic pain. Studies on using suboxone for addictions are RECENT, within the last 2 years. Any doctor who is treating you for chronic pain and not addiction has no right to deny you the benefits of suboxone/subutex.

Finally, I urge people who are suffering with such terrible back pain that they can't even walk to request an x-ray instead of yet another MRI.

I had such severe back pain that all I could do was lay on my side in bed. I could not walk without excruciating pain. I cried a lot because the valium, oxycontin, Vicodin, etc., etc., etc., did not work. I was sleeping away most of my son's childhood.

I must have had 4 MRIs that showed "really nothing serious." Specialists said ridiculous things like "millions of people your age have slipped discs and they don't even notice." I replied " Well God bless'em but my back hurts like hell." I was accused of drug-seeking. All 4 "specialists" could see no reason to do anything else.

Then I found a specialist who did something different. I couldn't help crying as I described my symptoms, that I simply could not walk. He ordered an x-ray.

The x-ray of my bending forward showed several serious problems. Spondylolysthesis on 2 vertebrae (one vertebra sliding over the next: I had 2 vertebrae involved, one moving 10mm, the second 4mm); a disc space with no disc tissue, 3 vertebrae squeezing my spine so severely that my spine was unstable.

That was on a Tuesday. By Friday, I was checked into the hospital for immediate surgery.

The best answer is to educate yourself. And if your doctor, your employee, refuses to prescribe different meds to find the one that doesn't make you sick, find another pain specialist and file a complaint about the bastard who feels he has the right to control your life.
