Lyrica Lawsuit (Page 56)

Updated

Does anyone know if there is an ongoing lawsuit against the company who puts out Lyrica? I am a mess from it. Do we have a leg to stand on when it comes to the side effects they found out from people like us? I am a long termer. I have been taking 900 mg since 2005. Is there anyone representing us? Thank you

Bonnie , from my experience with my son, Lyrica induced Anxiety is hard to effectively treat because of brain wave changes and or Lyrica brain damage , patients i have seen with normal organic anxiety seem to respond far better to anxiety medications than has my son to Lyrica caused anxiety. in my opinion the anxiety is a far worse and life wrecking condition than the original pain condition this truly horrible drug was meant to treat.

Hi,
Your anxiety sounds crippling and I think it's this aspect of the type of anxiety that is being reported by those taking lyrica that is the key. I have communicated with a number of older ladies who have been on various medications for their pain conditions over the years, and only after taking the lyrica did this horrific anxiety hit. One lady had nursed her husband through cancer and watched him die; and then, in her late 50's found herself having to go back to work in an unfamiliar and stressful environment. None of these events triggered her anxiety as she is simply a calm person by nature; but after several months on lyrica she was knocked flat by extreme anxiety. She is still experiencing this while she is tapering off her dosage and is down to her last 25mg/day. She's understandably concerned she'll be left with an anxiety disorder that she didn't have before...she'd rather have kept the pain. So it's an insidious thing...and it's simply unjust that Pfyzer are able to side-step it with their claims that pain triggers anxiety. Actually...it's far more likely to trigger depression. Let us know how you're getting along ... hopefully, you will eventually find relief.

All of these are kind of scaring me :( I have been on Lyrica for the last 4 months and even though at first I had the drowsiness (I don't anymore), this has been a miracle drug for me. My nerve pain is completely gone when I remember to take it regularly. For breakthrough pain I take 10mg of Oxycontin twice a day and Endocet 5/325 up to three times daily. I know that everybody is different and medicines affect people differently. But this has been a miracle drug for me. I am so sorry for those of you that have been affected very, very negatively by this medicine. I hope you all find some sort of relief sooner rather than later.

Hi Nick,
Thanks for your message - and for the mathematics. I'll be in touch in a few days. I have to wrap my head around a lot of paperwork over the weekend before I can think straight...but this too, shall pass.

You know, the anxiety experienced because of the lyrica is actually qualitatively different to general day-to-day anxiety. Because I've experienced both, I've known and felt the difference - and it's particularly clear since I've been off the lyrica. Again, I'm one of the lucky ones for whom this symptom has settled since a month or two of my last dose. It took a bit longer for me to stop waking up feeling startled, shaking and frankly terrified without knowing why. That too, has now left me. I once had an excellent article that talked about the brain changes of lyrica and in a round about way, it made it clear how the anxiety is caused and maintained by the medication itself. Then, my browser crashed before I could bookmark it and I simply cannot find it again! I will keep looking, and God willing, it will show up before long.

Take care and have a wonderful, relaxing weekend. I love autumn! Melinda

Hi Jennifer,
I'm so pleased Lyrica is working for you and have my fingers crossed that you will remain side-effect free. From what I have read on the internet there are many of us who have been through hell, particularly with late-onset symptoms that we didn't initially connect to the lyrica. The experience is far too common to be coincidence. Keep a very good eye on yourself and your own reactions (which is hard to do if you're emotional stability does happen to be affected by the drug). Enlist a partner or two to observe you also...and have them promise to tell you if they notice any changes. I can certainly understand why you wouldn't want to give up something that gets rid of your pain. It's sheer bliss to be pain free. For me the lyrica didn't work so it was a moot point. However, two glasses of red in the evening definitely ease the pain in my shoulders and neck...and help me to sleep soundly. I'm not giving that up any time soon. :)

Lyrica has a habit of making you forget things and falling and not remembering it. I never remembered falling out of .my chair or crawling on all 4s trying to get to the bathroom. Make sure you have someone watching you 24 hours a day. I hope it works for. you.

I am in college now to learn a new trade. I am finding it hard to stay up with some of my teachers because to me they are going too fast, but the other students do not seem to have that problem. I am having trouble remembering what the teacher said and I am having trouble doing my homework. I just cannot remember what was said
O believe Lyrica is the cause. I worked in a hospital full time and took a 4 year correspondence course to become a respiratory therapist, which is hard to do. There is a lot to remember and this was very hard to do. I pray every night for Lyrica people and for myself for help to remember the things being taught and I am only taking 2 courses. BAN LYRICA!!!! : (

Hi Mary , i can certainly emphasize with you on what Lyrica has done to you regarding learning ability , my son went from an A: student to needing to complete his final year of high school by distance education from home , this means he is now a total of 3 years behind his pears and still laments his current state as he remembers so well how easily he used to retained new information , , the very fact Lyrica has not been banned is confirmation of endemic corruption in the system .

Lyrica is known to destroy nerves in diapathic neuropathy. What is it doing to our brains?

Took Lyrica for nerve pain in legs after a back surgery. Slowly, I began having issues such as blurry vision, leg cramps (horrible) and when I started having all my teeth hurt, I researched it. Sure enough, all were due to Lyrica. My PCP immediately started weaning me. I still have some visual issues, & some teeth still painful at times. See dentist, again, next week. I also have issues w forming thoughts into sentences. Also, Cymbalta gave me blood blisters (rare, but me!) & have one scar on my hand from it. I'll live w the pain. I would like to know how to proceed w an attorney. This stuff has got to be taken off of the market!

Tammy, where in Canada are you? I took Lyrica for one year. very soon after, I started having "foggy" days where I had trouble focusing my thoughts. This progressed to full on confused days here and there with stuttering and word replacement. Then about 6 months in, I started falling asleep at the wheel. I brought all of this to my MD and she felt that it was stress and not related to the meds. Another 3 months went by and I could barely make words some days. I am a Registered Forensic Nurse, as well I teach in the nursing school here in both official languages. Little y little, I couldn't make my mouth speak in French, I'd be up there in front of the students and "joking" with them about how to say "such and such" in French. Then it was happening in English. Word substation, stuttering, inability to think, falling asleep, loss of balance, headaches. All uncontrollable and frightening. I finally told my MD that I was coming off it. I rather have pain than be unable to THINK.

The discontinuation side effects were brutal. I have been off Lyrica now for 6 months. Though the symptoms (side effects) have lessened decidedly, they are by no means gone. I was told yesterday by a neurologist that it would seem I have lasting neurological damage from the med. No way to tell HOW long lasting. If there's a lawsuit pending, I'd like info please. I'm a mom of 4, RN, University teacher, 3rd degree black belt instructor in TKD, paddle instructor too! All of these have suffered from the use and then discontinuation of Lyrica.
Lyrica has ruined my life.

On another blog thread, they said the lawyers Rottenstein are looking into it. They also was a blog that someone in Australia found a lawyer who is looklngintp it. Rottenstein wants everyone to call them and tell their story, at least that is what the blog said about lyrica.
