How Long Before Testopel Pellets Start Working? (Page 22)

Updated

Just had Testopel pellets inserted in my backside. Forgot to ask doctor how long until they take effect. He's out of town.

I had the testopel procedure done last week. 10 pellets. No major improvement yet. I was on Androgel for 8 months prior to having the pellets injected but achieved no major benefit from it. My initial t level was 220 with the help of androgel my levels increased to 400. I do see the benefits of testosterone replacement. I noticed improvement in focus, energy, drive to accomplish tasks around the house that I otherwise couldn't before trt.

Can anyone currently on testopel say how long it took for them to feel the initial benefits of testopel? Was it 1 week, 2 weeks or 4 weeks?

I'd also like to speak about the procedure itself my experience was a relatively painless one. Mild soreness for a few days nothing unbearable. No bruising and some mild discomfort when sitting on a hard surface. My office chair is just fine. I'm hoping to get my levels into the higher end of the normal range through testopel.

John,

It takes me about 14 days before I notice a benefit. I have had pellets inserted 6 times now and it is always right around 14 days and I will wake up and just feel like a totally new man. Just hang in there and you should notice a big difference in a few days. I know it's frustrating but I think you are probably just like me. Our body's absorb the Testopel at a very slow rate. Best of wishes to you!

John: as I said, each man's body is unique and responds thusly to all medications, including TESTOPEL. I usually notice a significant improvement about day five (5). But, because of the loss of one (1) of my testicles 4+ years ago, by ten (10) weeks after implantation, the effects have lessened drastically. I still must wait for three (3) months to go by before again "getting my fix". I've joked with Doc I feel almost like an addict as I wait to feel good again. As to procedure itself, no problems, especially since Doc implants a bit 'higher' on my hip than he did the first time, which DID cause me extreme soreness when sitting for a few days. Much luck to you in this new adventure. May 2015 bring you renewed vigor and satisfaction.

Thanks for the reply gents. I'm looking forward to getting back to "normal" after 10 years of searching for the right medication to treat many of the symptoms associated with low t. I tried every anti depressant known to man to regain the joy I had in life before low t took my life away. All but one of the doctors I visited with refused to recognize low t as being a contributor to my lousy feelings, mood and lack of energy. Androgel helped show me my gut was right and hopefully testopel will get me to where I need to be.

Interesting that you mentioned anti-depressants in your quest for renewed positivity and vigor in your life. I did not mention this in my last post, but I do take an anti-depressant (Venlafaxine 75 mg) also. But it took awhile for me to find the right anti-depressant AND proper dosage. Many of these medications in various doses seemed to counteract the positive effects I was receiving from TESTOPEL, such as energy and libido. For me, the combination that I'm on now seems right for me. Continued progress to you --

Hey fellas, just checking back in with you. I had my 1st testopel procedure done,12 pellets inj'ed, 3 months ago. I did feel a difference, energy was up, libido & performance was very good but I'm still not where I wanna be. Listen,I'm 36 & my T score was at 205,it shot up to 345 in one month & I just had my 3 month blood work done & I'll find out tomorrow where my T score is but I know it dropped just by the way I feel now.

I am scheduled on Feb 11th for my 2nd procedure & I really just want this to work. I want my T score to be in the 700's or higher. Why did my score only jump up 150 points to 345 in a month? Can I really expect a higher score with a higher dosage?

Please don't tell me that my T score is only gonna max out at a whopping 345. Don't get me wrong,345 felt a lot better than 205 but it only lasted about a month. I really hope my urologist can get me at a stable higher score.

I'm at the point right now, where I don't even want to have intercourse with my wife unless I took a Levetra before because I don't get 100% hard with out it & sometimes the Levetra dosent get me 100% hard. The best intercourse I've had in the past 2 years was 3 months ago about a week or 2 after the 1st inj.,I just want to feel like that all the time. Libido, energy levels up,feeling positive, just feeling good like a 36 year old man should.

Sorry for the rant. Just want someone to tell me it's gonna get better than a few weeks of feeling good. Thanks for listinging guys, any feedback would be appreciated.

Johnny

Not sure where you live, but keep searching for another choice for pellet therapy....the problem with testopel is that they are 75mg and you should be getting 200mg pellets, and a dose anywhere from 1400-2400mg. That will typically last at least 4-6 months for men. Bio-identical is a good place to start your search, but make sure your doctor is certified in pellet therapy! A well educated doctor will be trained by leading doctors in this field and not be pharmaceutical reps....

Hi Johnny!

I'm sorry you're having such a "limited success" with your implants. As I've posted here before, each man reacts in his own way with TESTOPEL, as is the case with all medications. After having a testicle removed in 2010, and a resulting T-level of 87, I have been on the pellets after a short time of trying the injections. Injections were helpful, but in addition to having to repeat every other week, the results were not nearly as consistent as I experience with the TESTOPEL pellets. I just received my implantation 4 days ago, and already I'm experiencing the usual and most welcome/needed results, including more energy, increased libido, improved mood and overall better outlook each day. As for your expectations, I'm not sure what to tell you, as I'm noy thinking you are going to see/feel/experience a drastic increase in the results you had the 1st time. You say you were given twelve (12) pellets. My doc has only given me ten (10) though I've inquired about the possibility of more. He doesn't think I need it. Some docs will give you an injection to "jumpstart" the pellets. You may ask about that. Good luck and keep us updated as to how you are doing. By the way, I'm a 70-year-old man that has been getting some type of supplement/assistance for 6+ years. Hope this helps.

I'm, 57, I was at about 275T, and 4.9freeT. Low libido and ED, a little depressed. Tried injections, but too many ups and downs (150 to 2000 depending on timing) in levels. Just had 10 pellets and was up to 1100 after 2 weeks. Here's the thing: It does nothing to my daytime ED, but when in a high range, gives me raging hard-ons at night that wake me up for hours, but they go away if I let myself completely wake up, try to do anything or even get up and walk around. More important to me: It's doing nothing for my libido (which was very strong when I was younger). And nothing noticeable for my mental state. Hard to imagine how such an enormous variation in T levels could change my mental state so little. One other thing I wonder if other testopel users have noticed: A month after implant I worked out my glutes pretty hard (where the pellets are) and it seemed that the next few days I could tell that my T levels had suddenly gone way up.

Pellets are regulated by cardiac output. 24 hrs after insertion, your body builds/moves capillaries around the pellets. When your heart rate is increased your blood flows faster over the pellets and you absorb more testosterone. When your heart rate drops, so does the flow of blood. You are still absorbing, just not as much.

Thanks Bob. I just got my blood work back,my T level is at 286. So to recap,I started at a level of 206,got my 12 pellets & it only brought me up to 345 after a month (but I did feel better) now I'm back down to 286. I'm gonna ask him if I can get a higher ml pellet this time like someone suggested. When I 1st met my urologist he said "I can get you up in the 900's" but now I'm wondering if that's even possible for me. Anyway I guess we'll see soon enough. I go for my next implant on Feb 11 & I really hope this Doc has a game plan,as he can clearly see how I responded to the 1st treatment. I'll keep you posted.

Does your doc include an Estrogen blocker? Mine didn't for at least two rounds. The following rounds included an E blocker and a big difference it had made. I haven't had any treatments since Nov/13 due to lack of insurance. With me, including the last treatment and the 4 preceding testopel implants ranging from 10 to 16 pellets injected, I had gained 10-15 pounds within 7-10 day immediately after the implants. Not gained and gradually lost, gained and gained more. Now I fluctuate between 300-320. Mostly in the belly. Not a healthy weight.

Johnny, how is your diet and mental state? If you have anxiety about under performing you will not perform your best. Try eating more plant based meals and cut out the greasy stuff. Spinach and beets are nitrogen rich foods that convert to nitrogen oxide in the blood which relax the blood vessal which allows for easier blood flow. Same as the bodybuilder want more blood flow for bigger muscles it works for me. Do a search on nitrogen rich food. I'm not a doctor but have roll played as one.

Yes ...keep me posted. I'm LITERALLY a different person as I get closer and closer to implantation time. Now I know how an addict feels. I'd almost pay this "out of pocket" if I had to. I was barely functioning at the 87 level, right after the testicle removal. Take care and good luck, my friend.

I have completed my 4th implant. I get 14 of them every 3 months. At the end of 3 months my T runs at a low 400-600. After 2nd month of most recent implant my T was 900 which I thought was incredible. When I get the implants I am on a fantastic high for about 4-6 days then I calm down. My libido is improved. However, when having intercourse I still climax but produce no semen. The doctor says this is normal and not to be concerned which I am not. Implant procedure is painless and only sometimes have some bruising afterwards. What has been phenomenal for me is the physical changes in my body. I have dropped considerable body fat and have been almost a lifting monster at the gym. This is a complete change for me. I'm 76 years old and getting younger every day.

Hi, I came across this forum when searching for reviews and info on Testopel. My husband has been struggling with loss of libido and ED for 3 years (he is 40 now). Fatigue and total lack of energy, lack of drive and motivation, depressed mood and general apathy toward things. We believed it to be stress for a long time, then when he finally saw his PCP he was tested for thyroid, testosterone, etc which were normal. His T was at that time 531 which the doc insisted was normal even though I now know probably not too optimal for a young healthy guy. Fast forward, we are still here 3 years later. I decided to see a urologist who told us it was likely psychological, he was awfully young to have any medical issues contributing to ED. He decided to run T again, and include free T which he said was vital--- a year prior after doing my own research, I too believed free T should be checked but his PCP said not necessary and he wouldn't treat him with a 531 T level regardless.

Lo and behold, his T level now is 238 and free was 70. The urologist treats under 350 and a free T of under 80. They recommended Testopel because we have two kids and the gel isn't too safe and too much to fuss with daily.

He had them inserted- 12 pellets- on Tuesday. We didn't have expectations because it's been 3 years and we honestly never knew if a solution would come. They said it would work quickly, probably see a difference in mood and energy within a week or so. 8 hours after the insertion there was a different person in my bed. How is this explained? Not only a desire but an actual drive and urgency that has been absent for years. He had a normal libido and was able to maintain it for the first time in ages, and was able to have intercourse that night and next morning although not to completion either time- he felt like he could go on forever that way. Same interest yesterday, and then a normal complete intercourse last night.

How does this happen literally overnight? Is this normal? I am shocked that 3 years of struggle and sudden change here, it is perplexing!

The response to T-therapy is different with everyone. That said: what you describe is not uncommon. I had started gels in late thirties. Two days later I was waking up with a libido of greater quality than in my teens. I was treated similarly as that I was seeing different docs for each symptom. If he was taking antidepressants, that could have contributed to the ed. I started the gels and felt great for a week or so, then put on A/d medication. Didn't have a libido for weeks, let alone climax.

His hormones are out of balance. The Testopel replaces what the body isn't producing. If he is on thyroid medication you need to find someone well versed on treating both together. The testopel will throw off the thyroid numbers.

Good luck

Jenna: the most important thing I have gleaned from this site is the repeated fact that each guy reacts to TESTOPEL in his own unique 'normal'. That being said, I have been on the pellets now for several years and have very similar results as your husband. The night of my implantation, I am definitely beginning to enjoy its effects. I have read here there are men who are still looking for a significant improvement after 7-10 days. There are so many factors that affect outcome including age, # of pellets, other health problems, weight and medications taken regularly. I found that FLOMAX was a "killer" to positive effects of TESTOPEL. Again, each guy is unique with ALL medications, side effects and effectiveness. As for your husband's ability to maintain his libido with good stamina, but lacking climax, this often can have relation to side effects of some medications. As I mentioned above, this is what FLOMAX did to me. I am also amazed at hearing some guys are fortunate to have a urologist that insert fourteen (14) pellets ! My urologist will NOT do more than ten (10). I hope this personal info helps you both out. Continued good luck on this journey .........

I'm right there with you Bob. I'm counting the hours till my testopel about a week out. I feel like I have been kicked around pretty hard those last few weeks. My urologist usually gives my 15 pellets but went to 20 a month ago. My first blood draw came back at 825 and I felt 27 and not 47. Bob makes a lot of good points as far as age, weight, medication you are on, etc. I'm one of those that it takes right around 10 days or so before I start to feel the benefits. This medication has definitely changed my life in a positive way.

Ginger you're so right about exercise and thus blood flow. Because I exercise a lot my urologist didn't say anything about this. But I've known for years that squats bench presses etc will improve testosterone levels. Since getting my 14 testopel every three months, I've really hit the weights and my T has skyrocketed. I think it crazy to get T treatments and then sit around on a sore behind waiting for something to happen one day. You got to get the blood moving in lower body and especially in around implants. Also a number of men say "they're sitting on their implants"? Mine are in the fatty part of my upper buttocks. There is no way I can contort to sit on them. Sitting on them? Last week got a massage. He finished using a big vibrator on my back side. What I experienced afterwards was a tremedous T high like I'd just had new implants. I THINK the vibration got blood moving even more for the pellet to do what they're designed to do.

John here. I wrote back on 12/31. I wanted to check in its now 2 months since I had 10 pellets of testopel inserted. It took a good 3 weeks for me to really begin to feel the effects once it kicked in I felt good. I had a renewed energy and libido that I once lost. Here I am 2 months after the insert and I find myself needing androgel. I feel my t levels have dropped significantly I'm better than I was but not a tremendous improvement. I'm going to reach out to my physician tomorrow and I'm sure he'll suggest a blood test before even considering to order another round. I'm not sure if testopel is the best route for me to take. I have suffered from depression in the past and since introducing testopel to my system I have had to follow up and make some changes to my prescription regiment. I'm disappointed with the results but optimistic that I will find the right balance. I'm debating on asking whether to try injections this next round or possibly increase the testopel pellets the next go around. I understand everyone is different but is it common to have a significant drop in t levels only after two months? If anyone else has experienced please chime in. Thank you all for your input.

John
