I think you will like Testopel very much. I tried Androgel as well and my count lowered to 60. I received 15 pellets and my count went to 950 the first time. I felt 20 years younger and had energy all day long. lt took me a couple weeks to really feel the positive effects of testopel so dont get discouraged if you don't feel improvement in the first few days but some people feel positive results in just a few days. Keep us posted and best of luck Rob.

Good luck Rob. I hope the TESTOPEL gives you as much help as it has me. I have been doing for 4+ years now! my most recent 2weeks ago and am returning to the me that I like.

Thanks, Bob. I'm looking forward to feeling better and less worn-out. PS> Will it reverse my graying hair? JK

Rob -- you're a funny guy!! Not so realistic, perhaps, but funny. I'll be sending "testosterone wishes" your way next week. Don't worry about the color of you hair. Think of the grey as merely "DISTINGUISHED sprinkling". Some guys would take PURPLE hair, ..............just to have hair again, you know! My best to you in you in the coming week's procedure. Can't remember if this is your first implant or not. But ... ... ... My best advice to guys having this done is to mention to Doc that if (s)he makes the incision a bit HIGHER on the hip, it makes a world of difference w/pain and soreness afterwards, because you are not putting direct pressure on it when you sit down. Just a thought.

Reverse hair color? Rob, stick with the realistic hopes / dreams.

I'm in my 70s and have been on a Testopel regime for 4 years and I'm still grey. It can effect the head hair you still have inasmuch as it is most likely to accelerate any thinning. Sorry, but true.

Some doctors monitor your female hormones along with your T, and prescribe a mild (emphasis on mild) prescription like Propecia to counter that effect. Also, I'm of the Mexican hairless variety and now my body is showing much more body hair growth than ever before, so get into your man-scaping drill.

Best

Yeah, I know. I was only kidding about reversing gray. I'm aware that the expectation is to increase my regular levels of T. Thanks for the reply.

Chisholm: sounds like you and I have similar experiences and results with TESTOPEL. We are also close in age which may also be a contributing factor. I'm so grateful to have this at my disposal. The only thing I don't like is how anxious I become after about 2 1/2 months of having the procedure. I'm on a 3-month schedule and my body, moods, energy level and libido DRASTICALLY reduce after 10 weeks. I feel like an "addict" waiting and needing my next 'fix'!!!! Continued good results to you.

Bob, the human body is a phenomenal adaptive mechanism. I, fortunately, do not get the mood swings you mention. But I do try to stay as active as I can.

I've seen men of our age in 3rd World countries that have NO choice in what they have to do to stay alive. They lift heavy loads, work long hours of rather hard manual labor into their setting sun days.

We don't generally do much more than ride the mower, sit on a couch, or in a chair for our living.

My point is that although they don't want to work hard physically anymore than we do, they must! I've noticed in these more undeveloped societies that men are more virile late in life.

The very reason body builders lift weights, putting heavy demands on their body is that the body is proven to respond to the needs we put on it.

I'll look for you at the gym.

Chisholm: Look for me at the gym? Well .......... I do go to the "Y" about 5 days a week, mainly walking the track. I do a few machines I.e. 'Crunches', but am so out of shape and overweight that I don't do too much. I feel so much better when I carry around less #, but get so discouraged. I can tell you are a wise man and I admire and respect your views. I wish I could DO what you say -- I am sure it would benefit me. Sometimes when I talk to fellas on this site, wish it were possible to meet and have face-to-face opportunity to exchange ideas and viewpoints -- you know, like a support group would meet. I'm a retired teacher and KNOW the benefits received when you are WITH the person you are talking to. Make sense? Thanks for your obvious caring and concern that you offer to the guys on this site. I've read your posts to others and what you say has value. Take care --

Bob,

I got my blood work back and my thyroid and estrogen are both in very good shape. I feel much better but I'm approaching 90 days since my last testopel implant and I can feel the fatique starting to set in. I go to check my testosterone levels this Friday and I think they will show they are dropping rapidly. It seems like 3 months is about all the mileage I can get out of them. They said they will have my results on Monday and should be able to set up my next round within 2 weeks. He said I can come in and get a shot on Fridays so I don't have to experience that lull that we all know about. I really like these pellets overall. I wish they would last 6 months or so but the procedure is quick and pretty much painless. Welcome to all the new people that have joined the board in the past couple weeks and I wish you the best of luck.

Brian -- good news, indeed !!! I'm happy for you. I, too, can't go longer than 3 months. It's all so personalized. I had a testicle removed in 2010 and perhaps that adds to my shorter time frame. I just wish I didn't have the chronic prostate infection. It is almost non-stop, as I switch back and forth between CIPRO and DURICEF. I don't like being on an antibiotic constantly, but the severe infection 4 years ago led to the testicle removal -- I was having extremely severe pain and since the antibiotic hadn't taken care of infection, Doc did surgery and found the infection had "eaten through" a part of the testicle wall, thus causing the severe pain. I DON'T want that to happen again. Anyway, Doc says his patients vary in length of time between implantations from 3-6 months. Get that shot as a "stepping stone" on Friday and enjoy. Have a good week, buddy !

There are practices that provide pellet therapy that can keep you at levels>800 and sustain that for up to 6 months. Most men require trx every 5-6 months and once you set your frequency, appts can be set so you don't have to take the shot while you wait for your next appt. Also, keep in mind that IV's are NOT Bioidentical and must be processes through the liver and converted into testosterone. I'm a BioTE user and swear by it! And if you have spouses, you may want to make sure that they are up to par with you! Testosterone can be great for a relationship or it can tear it apart if partners are not on the same level so to speak. Women lose testosterone at a much higher rate, starting in their 20's and have many of the same symptoms...just an FYI...

Bob,

It really sounds like you have been thru a lot. I really appreciate your help and words of encouragement. I'm having one of those its hard to walk across the floor in my building days because I'm so worn down feeling but I know help is on the way. I just thank God there is treatment available for low testosterone. My wife is always telling me that she gets tired and sleepy but I try to tell her it's a different type of tired and fatique. Maybe it's like how women feel when they are pregnant but that's just a guess. I try to be very sympathetic towards her. Hope everyone is doing well.

Brian,
Has your wife had her hormones tested? She may also be low on Testosterone. Women begin losing their production of T 10-15 yrs before menopause and they lose it at a much higher rate. Of course they don't need as much as men, but they need enough to relieve their symptoms.

Ginger,

I'm glad you asked this question. My wife and I have been married for 6 years and we have a pretty solid marriage. We got married later in life and we had a kid when I was 42. Much older than I ever would have imagined but I wouldn't trade him for anything. I love him and my wife very much. I said something about her testosterone last night and she kind of blew it off as lack of sleep and I told her that she really needs to go and get her hormones checked out. I got my pellets implanted on 12/13/13 and we have been intimate 4 times since then. She has no desire whatsoever and it's very frustrating to me. I'm sitting here with a testosterone count of 1000 and she has no desire at all. She is 44 years old and I figure at that age you probably have a hormone imbalance or something going on. She doesn't like to talk about anything sexual at all. She is the most modest person in the world and I'm just like honey I'm your husband and we should be able to talk about things like this very openly and not feel weird at all. Sorry if I got too in depth with the sexual talk but I want to hear someone's thoughts.

No problem. I've heard it all! I did BHRT consults for as dr I worked for that treated men and women with the biote method. A woman's libido is 99% testosterone driven, where a man typically will hang on to his till he has hit rock bottom...men may have performance issues before ever losing the desire! I look back and know I was 34 when mine stopped. A dr like I worked for has been trained in extensively trained in BHRT, including thyroid and Vitamin D. Doesn't do any good to fix some of a patients hormonal imbalance and not correct the rest. I think BHRT is life changing for women, both pre and post menopausal...

I had my testopel implants on 12/13/13 which is 3 months ago. My baseline numbers gets all the way down to 60 so it take about 17 days or so for me to start feeling a good bump. I just had my blood drawn on Friday and got a call a few minutes ago and my testosterone is almost 1300. I about fell out of my chair. It was 875 after the 1st month, 1050 after the 2nd month and 1300 after the 3rd month. The nurse asked me if I was taking shots somewhere else and I said no which is the God's honest truth. I did have a patch there of 2 or 3 weeks where it felt like my T count was very low. The nurse thinks my body probably wasn't dissolving the pellets as a normal person would during that timeframe. I feel great and I'm going to just keep on rolling with it and see where we stand in another month but I find all this very odd but the nurse told me that she has see this before and some people are just different than the majority. Good thing is that it looks like I'm going to get pretty good mileage out of this batch of pellets. I had 15 put in the first time and my body dissolved all of them within 90 days. The doctor went to 20 pellets this time and this happens. Kind of weird.

I have been using testopel for about three years now. I have learned is the doctor needs to learn how to insert without after pain. The first time I went to him I thought o my god I don't know if I can go through this every 5 to 6 months but as time went on and I would let him know how I felt he has finally learned how to insert with little to no after pain. As for how often we are all different some like myself may need it every 3 months others 6. Like most of you I did try all the other options but this works for.

Good to hear the good report, Brian. I was surprised at the number of pellets you had implanted. My Doc has never gone above 10, even when I've inquired about the possibility. I know each man (patient) is different as each physician doing the treating. Enjoy the outcome of this and just "ride the wave" for awhile . Best thoughts to all members of this site.
