False Negative Urine Test

I have recently been taking two new medications: atorvastatin 40 mg, and lisinopril 10 mg, along with oxycodone + acetaminophen 5/325. On my recent urine test for oxycodone it came back negative for oxycodone. Could the new meds have caused this?

Yes this is a big issue it has just happened to myself after 13year of never having an issue Lisinopril does in fact create a false negative. It has been proven by the FDA. Trying to tell should be easy but they Mine didn't want to believe it and discharged me after a decade of never drinking smoking and just taking what he gives me. look it up I did all night, It is even in your side effect paperwork you get from the pharmacy. It causes you to drink more sweat more thus eliminating the amount in your system. Sorry this sucks, You DR should have taken a better as well as mine.; I insisted and he refused BS. Good luckl

Ck your insurance first. If a blood or quantitative tests are covered, ask your Dr to order one of those tests. Simple urine tests have so many negative variables and inconsistencies that can get a false negative result, you will definitely pay a price. The doctors really Don't care anymore about trying to help solve these results. They would just rather replace you with a paying patient with no side issues. It's called laziness.

Sadly, as I understand it , there are a number of reasons for a false negative lab result. One can be how the urine was processed at the lab. Either human error, or the chemicals are outdated. If it is you, metabolism,drug interactions and other issues may be the cause. Neither of these are particularly helpful because it would take forever and a lot of money to figure it out because really an Attorney that deals in lab results would have to be retained. I know this doesn't help you. Ask your doctor to do a quantitative drug screen or draw blood, which in both cases are much more reliable and more specific. Good luck to you..or switch doctors.
