Detox From Psychotropics

been on dextro for 3 years. in addition I am taking paxil, clonazepam, & trazodone. I still feel extremely tired and listless. i wish I could be taken off this stuff. I am very familiar with detox; I used to run a social detox center. I am definitely scared of the detox process. I am a Veteran and they will not allow inpatient detox.
Do I have any hope to ever get off this stuff? I am a 69 yo male, living alone.

John, I fully understand your situation, I've helped 100s off benzo's etc. Healthy solutions at-home are realistic, lots of info, plus at home withdrawal progam

this is to john, you have probably built up a tolerence to the dextro after 3yrs, but my main question is why does your Dr have you on 3 downers with that strong of an upper? a side effect of paxil is fatigue, clonazepam and trazodone are very strong relaxants a better word i would use to discribe them is sedatives. I cant say that ive ever came acrossed a person prescribed both of these, never with a stimulant, unconceivable with one of that class. I would question every thing until you understand why, and ask about a new drug that is to winne patients off narcotics mainly prescribed it is called suboxone. my mother who has chronic pain was on the 150 duragisic patch + hydrocodone 20mg tid was off all that and on suboxone then winned off that all within a yr 4mns when i say off the patch and hydro i mean off in a total of 2 days, the only way to do it is you have to go through the withdrawl by the time your at the point you want to do what ever it takes for it to stop, when your body cant move to try it the way your mind is saying get up and do whatever it takes to get it to stop, thats when you are ready for the suboxone its sublingual and works in a matter of a few mins and that panic feeling of 'i need i need i need' eases up. dont get me wrong you still feel like s**t, but not like you would eat s**t if it would make it stop. well good luck hope i made a little sence and got you started in a direction you were looking for.
