Benadryl False Negative Drug Test

I am taking methadone and oxycodone for pain management. I get them from the VA. I was injured in Iraq. The VA Clinic told me that my last urinalysis came back negative for oxycodone. I take my methadone and oxycodone as prescribed and cannot think why it would come back negative. The only thing I can think of is that I take Benadryl sometimes at night to help me sleep. Is there anyway that the Benadryl can cause a false negative? The VA has taken the oxycodone away because they say I'm abusing my prescription. Can anybody help me with as to why my urinalysis would come back negative?

To Russell. I am going through the same situation with my elderly mom. She has been on oxycodone for 6-7 years. A week ago the doctor had ordered a blood serum drug screen which came back totally negative. Mom also takes Mirtazapine and Temazepam. Nothing showed up in her blood. She gets all three medications every single day, some days maybe a little less oxycodone and some days a little more. When she had the blood test she had 60 mg in her system plus the days before. The night before she had 30 mg each of the other two. When I received the call from the physician's office, my immediate reaction was the lab messed up because there is no other explanation. My 89 yo mom who can barely stand erect is certainly not selling them. My husband and I are in our late 60s; we certainly are not so the only option was the lab messed up the samples. Within an hour, I ran out to buy two urine home test kits and mom immediately came up positive for the oxycodone and the benzodiazepine (Temazepam). I have absolutely no idea why the lab's blood test showed nothing whatsoever in her system.

The Dr refuses to budge n this, she says that "I stand by my decision". I asked them to give me a Gas Chromography test and once again, same reply but she added that she will not order an expensive test and stands by her decision. I looked back at my prescription history with the VA and I noticed that the Dr started me on Hydrochlorothiazide 25mg for blood pressure. JUST a few weeks after they started me on that my first negative urinalysis came back. I have been on that stuff ever since and my urinalysis has been negative for oxycodone. Any chance that blood pressure med is affecting my tests?

Oxycodones breaks down into oxymorphone for the results in a urine test and often may not show up as oxycodone

I have recently had a very similar issue where my methadone shows up but my pain meds do not. Where I am tested at the methadone program they use swabs at pain management that use urine. I went so far as to even pull up several swab manufacturers because I was the one who brought this problem to their attention and then became the recipient of all kinds of accusations at the program but had the support of pain management. Ultimately I was told there are many reasons why full results can occur from improper administration of a test 2 improper handling and storage if that test is being send some place for the analysis 2 problems with either the equipment used to make a determination that person doing the testing as well as the fact that with swab testing you cannot eat drink or smoke for a half an hour beforehand and you cannot have any sucking candy gum or other outside items in your mouth which I did to because my mouth is exceptionally dry due to all the medications I take and in the case of my swabs had a blue indicator line to let you know when the test was completed that I now find out had to go completely to the other end before the test could be considered finished and which never happened in the case of any of the test sites hook because as soon as I saw the slightest bit of blue I removed it from my mouth due to the fact that the taste of the swab made me Rich on this sooner I could get that out of my mouth that happier I wasn't less likely I was to puke. Swab manufacturers told me that they would have to review in detail my entire medical history as well as do additional testing to determine why these events were happening as well as they're being a change and wave test was administered. So it's like fighting North Korea but these are the things that I discovered
