Watson Is Now Actavis Generic Percocet 5/325 What Is Up With This (Page 20)

Updated

I had been taking 5/325 generic Watson percocet for 4 years. Suddenly I get notified by Walgreens which I have insurance that there is no more Watson brand and I was given generic percocet 5/325 by Actavis. It is not the same at all. It has no pain relief for me. I used to break the watsons in half sometimes and never had a funny taste. I just broke one of the actavis white tablets in half and it immediately tasted like salt or alka seltzer? Has anyone had any issues with this drug too. Also, along with it not working right it has made my GI tract and stomach so ill feeling and cramping. This is not right how can they take away a medicine that someone has been on for 4 years without any problems and tell them to suddenly switch. Would a peson who has been on a certain heart medication for years be told to suddenly switch that he can't get that medicine anymore? I don't think so. I don't know what I am going to do but when it comes time to have my rx re-filled it will not be with Actavis and I will have to pharmacy shop I guess to see if I can find Watson. I am very depressed now and so unhappy I can't believe it.

BL, no I am referring to the watson percocet not hydrocodone but acetemenophin and oxycodone the 5/325 and the 10/325.

Lola...i think shes wondering if u were talking about the generic 10/500 or 10/325 hydrocodone w acetaminophen from Watson which is the generic Percocet then she said they still make the 10/325??? I wonder if she actually takes generic Percocet s? N if she does, does she not realize they arent Watson's like lisa m's friend didn't?

Hi Jennifer, was wondering if you have taken the endocet yet today and how are you feeling with it? Is it controlling your pain and have you had any side effects? My friend who takes the generic percocet by Alvogen wants to see if he can maybe try and get endocet on his next refill because the alvogen is probably right behind Actavis as being the worst generic out there now.

Lola....to be honest, ive NEVER been sensitive to medications....the fact that Actavis made me sick to my stomach is proof that junk is no good. Ive only taken one dose of the endocet since I picked them up at 4 so its too soon for me to tell anything legit yet. Im not sick and my pain level IS lower now than it was last night at the same time though. As far as that burst of energy. ...didnt get it from this first dose but we'll see when I wake up in the morning and take my first dose. Funny thing. .when I was calling around trying to find a place that had endocet, one of the pharmacists told me his wife was taking the Watson's generic Percocet then they were bought out by Actavis and ever since, she has been in terrible pain....the Actavis were giving her no pain relief whereas the Watson's did a good job. I told him I found that out about 2 1/2 months ago when I had to go through the same thing. I told him how I went on the internet to do some research about what was going on with the Watson medicine n found tons of people going through the same thing when taking Actavis Percocet n that is why im now trying to find the endocet...I told him I was given the Actavis n that was out....I then tried the mallinkrodt but it wasn't giving me enough pain relief n I had read a bunch of people were having success with endocet. Poor guy told me with his insurance, he had to get his meds at walgreens. If he went anywhere else, he would have to pay almost cost for them....and his wife was having surgery tomorrow so he was hoping she wouldn't be in too much pain n he wished he could get his wife endocet where they take his insurance. All that coming from a pharmacist ......go figure. Ooooooooo...im typing this n it just hit me I could call him n tell him I got the endocet at Walgreens n which one....if I could find which of the dozens of pharmacies I called he was at? I gotta try n look through my call log n hope to figure it out by seeing the length of each call I made n hoping hes at the pharmacy with the longest call time since I g ad a conversation with him....I feel bad for him n especially his wife. And it would feel good to help someone who's stuck with no good options because theyre unaware of being able to get something else. If I remember right, werent you sensitive to dye in medications Lola? Just remember endocet is yellow if u r. At least the 10/325's are....I don't know about the 5/325's though...or if they even make the 5's?

Jennifer-the generic hydrocarbon and acetaminophen 10/325 to which you referred is Norco.

Sorry....I was typing n hitting the T9 text choices not realizing I was selecting percs instead of norcs....thanks sara...I wouldn't have realized I made that mistake. Lola.....I typed a response n it still hasnt been approved. ...Idk y? So im gonna try to type a little at a time n see if it just goes through.

Ok, so im only on my 3rd dose of the endocet and as far as pain relief, theyre better than the mallinkrodt generic. But...I really need to give it a couple of days to give u a definite answer. I give my body a few days to adjust to the changes in meds, then ill know for sure if they're better or not.

Lola, if I remember correctly, u were sensitive to the dye in medication so just be aware these are yellow. ..at least the 10/325's are...not sure about the 5/325's....or if they make em? As far as energy. ...I slept on n off till 1:30 today....n I could've slept longer if I didn't have to get up... ive been really sleepy. Hopefully that will go away once I adjust.

To b honest. ..ive never been sensitive to any medications which is how I know Actavis is junk....it made me sick to my stomach n thats a first for me. Nothing else ive taken has done anything remotely close to what the Actavis did type to me....along with no pain relief!

Jennifer, are you talking about the endocet being yellow or the percodan? The endocet I have are white and I have already tried them and they made me too quesy and spacey and it lasted all day so I can't take the endocet. Still taking the percodan and they are yellow but I guess the yellow doesn't bother me for some reason. How is the endocet working for you now?

They approved n posted my message I typed on Saturday after I posted on Sunday so my posts are repeated. ....Lola... im referring to the endocet 10/325's being yellow. I haven't taken the Percodan. How are the Percodan working for you? Are you taking the 5 or 10/325's? The endocets made me weak n very tired on Sunday. ..today I didn't feel as tired as I did yesterday (Sunday). Like I mentioned earlier, my body needs a few days to adjust. As the days go by, my body seems to be adjusting better. When you try a new pain medication, do you stick with them for a few days before throwing in the towel? When we try a new pain medication, even if we don't feel so good at first, we need to stick with it for a few days. All us Watson users have taken a hard hit to our bodies with the changes in meds, so we have to give ourselves a chance to adjust to another pain medication and that may take a few days or maybe even a week to tell if its going to give us any real pain relief n not make us ill. If you're not giving the meds some time to adjust, you wont knowif its actually the medication making u sick or the withdrawals from the previous pain medication.

Oh....after numerous phone calls. ...I found the pharmacist who I had the conversation with about the Actavis not working for his wife either....turns out he works at a Walgreens pharmacy..... in the same town as the Walgreens that had the endocet for me. I told him I found endocet at a Walgreens n at what location so he could get them for his wife under his insurance plan and he was surprised Walgreens had endocet. He had no clue another location could carry something he didnt have on his shelf. ....and he works for the company. He was so grateful I thought of his wife n took the time to find him n let him know. It felt really good to help someone find access to the meds they need to be in less pain! Comes to show that the same pharmacy in different locations, even as little as 5 miles from eachother, could carry a medication different then their sister stores n not one employee would have any knowledge of it!

Jennifer-this is what I was trying to say in my original post #343. Perhaps I said it poorly.:(

That with my Norco, I had to go to 4 CVS stores to find my generic. Within a few miles!

And that it's worth the looking..you have to talk to EACH pharmacist to know what's on the shelf. Often what the computer says isn't representative of everything they have.

My pharmacy has my generic, but you must ask since it's on diversion in CA. And ALL staff will tell you it's unavailable on the phone.

Confusing and frustrating. Thank goodness for this forum!!

Oh boy....I didnt remember u wrote that...my last few posts r proof to what u had said. Go figure...a Walgreen s pharmasist didnt realize the Walgreen s around the corner from his store had what he wished he could get for his wife and covered under his insurance....and fir the past few months his wife has been in agony. I had went through a few drive thru pharmacies per the request of the same store but different location bc they said like u said sara...they wont confirm it over the phone...but I was still outta luck. Lucky for me, the last call I was gonna make, my old pharmacist reconized it was me due to my ny accent before I knew it was him n he said he has seen some endocet the other day n put me on hold to go look...when he picked back up...he used my name...that was pure ! I was ready to throw in the towel!

Jennifer-congrats!!! Finding what you need is SUCH a huge relief. No more horrible side effects, more pain for no reason, confusion, frustration and feeling like you've gone nuts!!!

KNOWING that what you need is out there and you just can't find it is SO crazy-making, right?

And people telling you that it's ALL the same stuff and it's all in your imagination. ..Idk which is worse...lolol..

I'm SO happy for you!

Don't forget to mark your calendar 5-7 days ahead of refill each month to call and order if they don't have any on the shelf!

If he got some, he has a purchase order and can get more...it's just research. Sounds like a nice guy. Make him find that PO and save it!:)

Aren't you glad you have an accent...lol???

Jennifer the ones I use are round yellow pills and are the 5/325. I have never had to go up to the 10's only one time on vacation i hurt my back and the ER doctor gave me 10/325. That was back when I taking watson . They just seemed a bit too strong so I had to always take only half. I tried to give the brand name percocet they are blue pills and the endocet the white pills a fair chance but each time it was the same side effects over and over. At that point I think I would rather take the pain or take OTC meds than put up with those kind of side effects. Is the endocet still working okay for you? I believe it was Lisa M who said she really likes the endocet. Have not seen any updates on it from her in a while. I really thought the endocet were for me but they also made me very dragged out after about an. hour or so after I took one. Then the spacy feeling all day ugh I couldn't eat or do anything but stay home and watch tv.

Hi Jan, I called actavis and filed a complaint about how sick the 5 325 oxycodone made me. I talked to a rep over there for about 45 minutes, then another rep called me back and asked for the lot number on the bottle. I told her she would have to call Walgreens. So hopefully they are checking into this medication. I lucked out last month, surprisingly my Walgreen called around and got some old stock of the Watsons for me. I was shocked and it really had to do with 1 pharmacists efforts. Now I have had to change pharmacies and am trying the qualitest brand.

Hi Alice,

Yes, Actavis is denying everything. They even sent me a letter doing so. I'm getting used to the Mallickrodt, and I have good days and bad. It was the same with Watson though. It's because the strength of my pills is 5/325. I won't complain, because some people can't get anything. As you might have read in some of my earlier post's, I almost lost what I have now when I said the pills aren't working as well. My husband found some of my old Watson's, and I was very happy, but I took some of them within a day and I didn't feel any different. They could have been old though. I get a new script next week and will stick with what I have. Honestly, I am happy to be getting some pain relief. That Actavis was terrible, because it didn't even help with the pain. My pain level is really high lately. I'm thinking of getting another spinal epidural if the pain level stays the same. Is the Watson working for you like it did before? Let me know.
