Dose of Reality. A nurse in many cases is more knowledgeable than many doctors. A real doctor as you said can wind up killing you, so can a nurse. What troubles me the most is how you posted what sounds like an attack on a nurse. Perhaps reverting back and having a better upbringing will teach you how to communicate as an adult vs. being an attacking animal.

AGITATION!!! Ive experienced pain in my joints especially my toes and fingers but the agitation seems to be my big one. I have horrible PMS and is the main reason my Dr switched me from a long term Effexor/ Prestiq therapy to Viibryd. Now I feel like a psycho PMS enraged female EVERYDAY...It's horrible. Ive yelled at my kids and even threw a remote at my boyfriend the other day...Maybe being psychotic one week a month was not so bad...PLUS HORRIBLE HEADACHES LASTING 6 hours a day and start, like clock work, about an hour after taking the Viibryd.

Use this drug with EXTREME caution. My first week on 10 mg. I felt so much better and thought that I had found a miracle drug. I was having some bad side effects but hoped that they would go away like I have experienced on other anti-depressants. I stuck it out for six weeks until I had a out of control, out of nowhere burst of anger and agitation. I decided enough was enough. I was experiencing insomnia, vivid dreams, upset stomach, loose stools, headache, muscle pain, agitation, anger, tingling, joint pain, weight gain, and severe tiredness. My doctor said that the side effects should have lessened or gone away by then. Now comes the hard part that the doctors never warn you about. Viibryd can cause flu-like symptoms for 5-7 days every time that you decrease your dose or wean off of the medication, no matter how slow and careful you are. I got this information from a reliable source--my pharmacists. I have been trying to wean off of Viibryd this week and it has been a hellish week. I am too sick to function normally and so depressed that I have considered hospitalization to help me during the weaning off period. In my opinion, this drug is not being prescribed or monitored as carefully as it should be. It may be a wonder drug for some, but for me it has been the scariest drug that I have ever taken in my life.

I love how someone who has not suffered can express a jerk off opinion! You spend a year not being able to move and not a single doctor for almost a year can figure out what is causing this horrible inflammation and severe pain! I have been off vii for 6 months and I still have pain and swelling! I have lumps on the bottom of my feet and hands that can't grasp things on some days still!!!! So warning or not my life has been completely disrupted from this med I can't even work!!!!

I have been on 40 mg of the antidepressant Viibryd since February of 2011 (within a month after FDA approval). Approximately 9 months ago I began experiencing pain and stiffness in my feet upon standing and walking after sitting or lying down for a period of time and most noticeably after a night's sleep. Over the course of the next 9 months the pain and stiffness spread to all of my joints. I also began to have muscle pain and weakness which progressed to the point that I was unable to open bottles and jars. During this same nine month period I gradually became more and more fatigued. Walking up one flight of stairs to my apartment was an effort and I often felt out of breath and dizzy upon reaching the top of the stairs. I could no longer take normal walks with my dog without feeling exhausted. It was around this time that I began experiencing episodes of blurred vision. I also noticed that my skin had become very dry and was developing little bumps. Then about 3 months ago I woke up one morning with red, flat, non-itching splotches all over me from the size of a dime to a quarter. I went to a dermatologist who was unable to determine the cause of what she called a "non-specific" rash. After one month most of the splotches faded and disappeared. Based on the symptoms I was experiencing my family doctor ran a series of blood tests. Everything came back normal. He could not find a cause for my symptoms. I felt hopeless. I was 56 years old and felt like 90. At this point a friend recommended I see a doctor who is regarded as a superb diagnostician. The first thing he did was recommend to my psychiatrist that I be taken off both Viiibryd and a new antidepressant for treating MDD named Brintillex (a serotonin modulator and stimulator) which I had been taking for 2 months. It was my diagnostician's opinion that I should not be on any seratonergic antidepressants and that I should instead exclusively be treated with dopamonergic antidepressants. Wellbutrin (450 mg) had been my base medication for almost 20 years and my diagnostician felt that I should continue with the Wellbutrin and add a new dopamonergic medication for treating Parkinson's and MDD called Azilect 10 days after stopping the Viibryd and Brintillex. With my psychiatrist's permission (after a lengthy discussion with my diagnostician) I stopped the Viibryd and Brintillex 8 days ago. At that time I was put on 25 mg of Lamictal and 25 mg of Seroquel (I assume to cushion the withdrawal from the Viibryd and Brintille. I begin taking Azilect two days from now.

What I can now report to all of you regarding the symptoms I've talked about having developed over the past 9 months that after stopping Viibryd and rthe ecently added Brintillex 8 days ago the pain in my joints has already significantly diminished. I have NO pain in my feet now. I can feel my muscle strength beginning to improve. And the fatigue has begun to ease. Now I have to tell you that my diagnostician wasn't sure what was causing all my symptoms. He wanted me off all seratonergic antidepressants because he strongly felt that any medication with seratonergic action was the wrong treatment for my MDD. But in removing the seratonergic drugs from my system the source of my symptoms was uncovered.

Viibryd was the undeniable cause of all the symptoms I have suffered from (and I mean SUFFERED from) over the last 9 months.

Hello Georgia,
I took Viibryd for a total of six weeks at the end of 2013, tapering onto then directly off of it, due to the 'arthralgia' it induced. I was bedridden for weeks and lost the use of my hands. I was referred to a rheumatologist who, after thoroughly testing every possible cause, diagnosed me with arthromyalgia induced by Viibryd. I am a natural optimist. I told myself that any day, any week, the pain would cease. At the same time I remember reading your post, then claiming no improvement after seven months, and I decided if I found myself in the same position I would take action. It has been eight months now without any improvement. I am 32 years old and on a good day I can walk a few miles or write a few sentences before my hands give out and the words become illegible. On bad days I can barely get out of bed or hold my phone to make a call. Are you still suffering from joint pain?

32 year old male. Just took my 4th 10mg sample pack pill about an hour ago. So far my side effects have been pooping almost right at an hour after taking the pill. The only other side effect has been confusion. It's worse closer to the time I take the pill. I just completely lose my train of thought and stand there looking into space. Caught myself just standing around at work today clicking my pen for who knows how long. After I go to bed and wake up it's not as bad.

My doctor told me that there would be some effects for the first two weeks or so while my body adjusted. This is my first time taking something for my atypical depression.

After just over a month I have weaned off Viibryd. I experienced terrible joint pain -- especially hips - absolutly debilitating. Difficulty sleeping with disturbing dreams, 40 mg dose was like an "out of body" sensation like I was watching myself from afar... so after just a couple of days cut back to the 20 mg and tried for a month but was having trouble gong up and down stairs. Not worth all this ... horrible med.

I also forgot to mention the pain in my joints. Some days are debilitating!! My hips hurt and I can't sit on one side for too long.

It took me a week to wean off from 40 mg. I've been completely off for six days. Each day gets a little better, but I still feel horrible. It has been really hard to get my therapist and doctor to believe that my body is going through withdrawal. I finally got the doctor to give me some medicine for the nausea. She said it will take 4 weeks for the drug to be completely out of my system. Give me strength. My husband is tired of having a helpless wife and my kids can't understand how a medicine could make me sick. This drug is worse than being depressed! I would believe this if it wasn't happening to me.

First let me tell you that I am an RN and had been on Pristiq for over a year. I seemed to be doing pretty well but I asked my doctor if there was anything new that might be better. He gave me the Viibryd starter pack with no instructions or discussion. So I thoroughly studied the package insert. Of course the company isn't going to stress side effects-they want to sell their drug.
After one dose I developed nausea, bloating and diarrhea . I was determined to stick it out until the initial side effects subsided but stopped after five doses. At that time I had

1 severe nausea
2 continuous diarrhea with severe bloating and tenderness
3 extreme insomnia with racing thoughts and headache
4 no nightmares but a very scary vibrating feeling inside my head and eyes along with uncontrolled crying

I am just astounded that the FDA approved this drug. Are they faking clinical trial results. I've been off of it for five days and still have nausea, diarrhea , insomnia and crying over nothing. These are like side effects on steroids.

53 yr old female. Starting my 4th week of the starter pack today. Had been on a combo of Cymbalta 60 mg/Lamictal 300mg daily for years for diagnosed Type II Bipolar. Told doc i wasn't feeling too evenly happy lately, so she suggested weaning off Cymbalta, continue the Lamictal, and wean onto Viibryd (as she said, the new wonder drug). I have never, ever, been so physically and emotionally sick, EVER. I chalked up the beginning symptoms as Cymbalta withdrawal, but I have so many awful things happening that I seriously considered checking into a mental hospital yesterday, even tho I have no insurance coverage for mental health. I have a dr appointment in an hour from now, and my husband is watching me like a hawk (i am damn lucky). Side effects include: all over extreme body pain, especially in my right shin, both knees, right arm and hand. I didnt sleep for 2 weeks because of nightmares (no halucinations). Crying is beyond uncontrollable, especially in the ams after I take my pill. If someone says something nice to me, i have cried for 2 - 5 hours straight. Now I am feverish, and while not suicidal, have thought about just "going away". I am considering weaning off all meds, cleaning out my body, dealing with my body's own goofiness, and then make a different plan. I wish each and every one of you luck with your journey, and decisions.

There seems to be something different about this medication. The side effects are long lasting. I've never seen anything like it in a psychiatric medication and I've been working as a physician since 2001. I am very sorry I took it because there was nothing in the literature that I could find to show ANY of this. Even my obnoxious Harvard trained psychiatrist refused to believe any of my symptoms until the next 5 people who walked into his office complained of nearly identical side effects. He was so incredibly dismissive, paternalistic and rude that I surprised I went back again to see him. I have since left his practice. He questioned my sanity repeatedly, asked me if I might be having a psychotic episode ( I have never had anything but moderate depression and I am currently going through a very stressful divorce with two young children that I am almost completely responsible for) and asked if I was abusing drugs. When he realized his mistake he didn't call me and correct the error, but waited until I came back 6 weeks later and THEN took me off the Vybriid and apologized for not believing me.
I'm ashamed that there are MDs like him.

I am also off the meds for at least three months and still suffer the symptoms it causes. Tired all the time, mental fog, irritability , wanting to cry all the time and horrible leg pain. I no longer feel like me. This drug shouldn't be allowed on the market

Im an RN as well (which sometimes i think makes things worse). I had a near syncopal episode at a grad party for my little sister (was not drinking) and ended up in the er. I then was on the couch for a week with severe weakness, dizziness and fatigue after stopping the drug. Prior to me er visit i had jist increased to 40mg 4 or 5 days before. The doctors dont believe its from the viibryd but cant pin it on anything else. Im going to go to a neurologist and my pcp this week to rule out any other causes. Ive missed two full weeks of work from this. Its been 5 weeks of off and on symptoms. Their studies were not sufficient before releasing the drug it seems.
