Updated

Going to start it tomorrow. Anyone else taking it, and if so, how do you like it?

Thanks!

I have definately found that the longer you are on V, the symtoms will eventually go away. So yall stick with it unless you are having severe problems. Not all meds work great for everyone!!

why do you need to take wellbutrin and xanax? My insurance has notified me that wellbutrin would be a cheeper alternative. Xanax I can undestand because I have Ativan if needed.

Wellbutrin and Xanax are nothing alike. I have been on Well for several years for depression. The Xanax is for anxiety and panic attacks which works, but hasn't totally helped but in short time frames. I did try to go off the Well when I started on the Vii, but that didn't work out. I have gone on and off on Well several times, just because I didn't want to take meds, but everytime I went off it, about 2 weeks into it I was just upset and unhappy. But, when I tried this time my heart was racing when I didn't take it...and I have never had withdrawals from it before so I don't think that is what it was, it must just work perfectly with the Vii. I still need the Xanax though, but not as much as before, but definately for driving, but the Vii is what helped in concoction to totally let me be able to drive without being scared to death.

The Well is pretty expensive on my insurance, even the generic. I don't even use my insurance for the xanax...it isn't but about 10 bucks a month.

It all seems to work together, which makes me a happy camper...lol

Where did you get the coupon from? How much off and for how much of the meds?

Scott,

The doctor gave me one the first month of my prescription because she didn't have any samples. Got samples the second month and then started at the pharmacy.

Im up to 60mg along w/ adivan,, still not getting the lift i feel I should or the dramatic spiral downs. How much can drug do to coincide with psychotherapy for trauma that drugs can't fix. when I first started it was nice to sleep but didn't last. tried diff combos. 2mg ativan seemed to help for now, take meds pm only meal i eat.

I just hit the three week mark on Viibryd at 40mg per day. The stomach aches and bathroom trips have diminished but are still there. There's some fatgiue, too. The sexual side effects are troublesome. The big hope I had for Viibryd was a change in sex effects versus the other SSRIs. So far, no change. I think I'll give this another two weeks or so to see if things adjust better. If not, I may try some Wellbutrin left from the last SSRI treatment. If Viibryd fails; even with the Wellbutrin added; then I think its back to just Wellbutrin. Its a marginal a-d but beats the frustration of no sex.

I stopped taking the Viibryd last week (weaned down over the course of two weeks). I was having too many troublesome side effects and not enough positives to justify the high cost out of pocket.
***WITHDRAWAL WARNING***
I was only on 40mgs for a short time and the withdrawal is like nothing I've ever been though...including Cymbalta (after taking that for over a year). The "brain zaps" are the worst I've ever felt- so strong and frequent that I haven't been able to drive. Anxiety, hysterical crying jags, nausea, mood swings, headaches, body aches, blurry vision...I had NO idea withdrawal would be this bad. After weaning off Cymbalta, I thought I was being careful not to take something with similar withdrawal effects, but I really messed up when I started Viibryd. I can't believe how bad the brain zaps are after such a short time, it's like someone has one of those trick hand buzzer things in my head, and they're hitting it over and over and over. All I can do is lie on the couch with the covers over my head because anything that increases my pulse rate brings them on in waves.

I'm glad for those that are having success with this medication, but please beware- do NOT stop taking the medication "cold turkey"...even stepping down like I did over the course of a few weeks isn't enough. Withdrawal from Viibryd is going to be a two-three month process, and if you had trouble with Effexor/Cymbalta/Lexapro withdrawal, you're going to have trouble with this one. Right now I'm taking Wellburtin 300, and the dr. gave me a benzo to help my anxiety and shakiness (very low dose). I feel pretty worthless right now, but today is better than yesterday, so maybe I'm over the worst of it.

Good luck folks.

Started 10mg of V 1st week , 2nd week 20 mg ,couldn't take 20 so doc cut me back to 10mg. and Valium in the evening. I was doing ok , feeling better then I had a panic attack when I got some bad news. That's been about 4 days ago and now I feel like I am ready for the 20 mg . It's like the 10 mg stopped working the minute I had the panic attack. I am tired of all medicines. I wish I didn't need them.

I have been on viibryd for 5 months and while u are on it it works great had trouble sleeping first two weeks but after that it was fine. I had to stop taking it cause I don't have insurance. Today is the second day. I can't stay awake, I'm rally dizzy, my heart feels like its skipping beats, I hve the nervous shakes and I cant eat without vomiting. So make sure you will be able to pay for it before you start it. I can't get any help getting my meds cause most doctors and hospitals say they haven't heard of viibryd and won't help me get it. And I can't take any of the other meds out there so I'm just screwed.

You can go directly to forest pharmaceuticals and fill out the patient assistance information. Or try needymeds.com for the form. It is very easy and set up for patients who do not have insurance. Its not 100% gaurenteed you qualify but its worth a shot

Be very careful with what you are taking with this medication!!! I ended up with seritonin poisoning due to this drug in combo with my 'wake up' meds, and my 'pain' meds. Read about Seretonin Poisoning, and I'll bet you'll be as surprised as I was that your symptoms match pretty well. Have you had any back pain with this medication? (I mean like in the kidney area) As that can mean more pain/trouble from your system becoming too acidic. Either one of those can kill you!

It treated me like any other SSRI.. I tried it for the lessened sexual side effects, Did not work me. No big deal, I'm used to this. Be prepared for a 2-3 days of G.I. upset. If longer than that, call your doctor. Stay with it and good luck. The research in this stuff looks good...it could work well for you.

Just finishing up my 2nd month on 40mg of Viibryd. Honestly, I don't feel like it's that much of an improvement. (I was on Cymbalta before.) My doc just added a low dose of Depakote to it, twice a day. We'll see how that goes. Of course, a lot of my psyc problems are situational, so it's kinda hard to say...

Question...does Wellbutrin give you a lift, so to speak? Does it give you more energy to make it through the day? Seems like I tried it once very briefly and it did. It was nervous energy, but in my case - I have an 8yo and a 4yo to keep up with! - any energy is better than fighting the battle of my body wanting to sleep all day.

Cage,

Sorry you aren't doing that great!! I am loving this. I can drive again!! I take Wellbutrin, Vii, and Xanax...seems to be the right go together for me. Tried going off the Well, but that didn't work. I take 350 of the Well, am on 40 of the Vii, and .5mg xanax up to 3 times a day. The generic Well isn't as good as the real thing, but my insurance won't cover anything but the generic. It can't hurt to try it. That is one drug that at least for me and most I know have had no problems with.

GARAGECAT

I have read this on other forums and I think someone on here had the same problem. I can't tell, I have thyroid issues, so my hair falls out anyway..It is a side effect for some. Good luck!!! Maybe Google is and see if anyone has a solution.

GARAGECAT

I forgot about Evening Primrose Oil. It is suppose to work well for people with hair falling out. Just read, it would slow and then make hair grow within 2 months.

Also, this is from a thyroid article, but is true for every one,...deficient in iron and the amino acid lysine. Lysine is the most difficult amino acid to get enough of via diet. Lysine helps transport iron, which is the most important element in the body and essential for many metabolic processes. When lysine and iron levels are low, the body probably switches some hair follicles off to increase levels elsewhere. Meat, fish and eggs are the only food sources of lysine. There are also supplements that contain lysine.

Hope this helps!!

There is a lysine suppliment. It is also useful in the treatment of herpes. I'll give it a try to save my hair!
