Has anyone used the new SUPREP kit before a colonoscopy?

Would like any comments about taste, ease or side effects.

Thanks!

Has anyone else had an inability to sleep? I took my first does at 5:00 p.m. I had to gag the stuff down. It takes like cough syrup only salty. The restroom part wasn't bad. I put in a movie as I started drinking everything. I was out of the potty by the time the movie was over. I have a headache when I lay down and my stomach is rumbling. I am a little nervous that I will not be able to keep the second dose down. I plan to start at 3:45 and maybe just maybe get a little nap before I have to be at the hospital at 8:45.

My first bottle of Suprep has me running clear. Do I still need to take the second bottle?

Ah ! Thankyou. I'm hoping that my case is there's just not much to move which would be ok by me. But like everyone else I just don't want to have to repeat it yuck

Using suprep as I wrote and it is fine. If you are contispated, jam packed with day old donuts, do to drink enough water in your daily life., then sure
Of course it's not going to be easy. It's not the suprep- it's your lifestyle most likely, or condition. Drinking 6-8 glasses of WATER a day helps one flush stuff out - sodas, juices, etc don't count. If you are not hydrated you will have impaction and left overs clinging to your colon walls. Suprep works to break this stuff down and get it out.
It's working well - not super comfortable and I had to sit off and on the pot Tay but it's not a horrible experience.

Yes, I had it, this past Monday. The Suprep was nothing, compared to horror stories I read. I had the first bottle on Sunday afternoon, and the second bottle, early Monday morning. I had the water, that they recommended after drinking the solution. It was so very easy. Nothing to worry about

I am having an awful headache after the first sips of the SUPREP solution. It feels like migraine. I tried and tried but headache continues. I can't have tylenol, because I develop allergic reactions to it. So, I guess the only thing to do is to call the doctor tomorrow and ask for another laxative. Has someone had this experience or have a suggestion? I appreciate it.

Re: hemorrhoids = I've had them for 50 years, but long ago learned this simple trick:

When you shower, have a rubber glove (I've used just my middle finger) handy, and gently - very gently - push the hemorrhoids back inside with your finger. I won't say it will always be comfortable, but after all the years I've been doing it I find it a breeze. Be VERY carefully you don't have a cut and don't cut yourself, and don't touch anything until you've removed the glove and washed your hand thoroughly.

You might want to ask your doctor and see what others say here, but it's worked for me. No guarantees, though. It's your risk.

I took suprep for the first time today. Those people that say the taste isn't that bad, they are lying!!!!! I tried to drink it slow, then vomited! Then i tried to drink it really fast, then i vomited! I tried everything. Broth, jello, flavored water, etc. nothing worked!

I will NEVER use Suprep again! Had a very violent reaction. Not sure what happened. Within 15 minutes of my first dose my abdomen pain shot up to 5+ and my left shoulder started pulsing with sharp pain. After consulting with my on-call doctor from my gastroenterologist's office we made a joint decision to continue the prep as I had blood in my stool two weeks earlier. For my past two colonoscopies over the previous 15-years I had used GoLightly. Although I do not like GoLighly at least I did not have a violent reaction. Short story long after my procedure my abdomen pain continued to be uncontrollable. I ended up in ER and being admitted to the hospital for 4-days. Fortunately my blood tests and a CT scan did not show any major issues. However, my continued shoulder pain over a week after the procedure is quite concerning. Have a follow-up appointment with my gastroenterologist but I am working to get in sooner.

Are there any substitutes to Su-Prep (except Fleet's Phospho-Soda recalled by ADA in 2010) that I can buy over-the-counter as a preparation laxative for colonoscopy?

I took the suprep last night at 6:00pm and again this morning at 6:00am, which took me an hour to get it down. Well, at 8:00 am, I just vomitted--I am scheduled to be at the hospital at 10:30am, do you think they will stil be able to do the procedure?

Sulfates have a bitter taste, hence the development of PEG bowel cleansing products without sulfate such as Nulytely or Trilyte.

Having said that, Suprep contains both Sucralose and flavoring agents, so it may not taste as bad as has been suggested.

It still involves the ingestion of 3 quarts of water, so while the volume is less than the 4 liter products, it is still substantial.
