Has anyone used the new SUPREP kit before a colonoscopy?

Would like any comments about taste, ease or side effects.

Thanks!

I'm having my first colonoscopy tomorrow morning and used Suprep. Took the first dose at 4:00 p.m. after eating a low fiber diet for five days -- no leafy vegetables, corn, or popcorn. Today I've had nothing but clear liquids. I didn't think the Suprep taste was too bad -- not that I would drink it just for the heck of it!! I decided to just mix it with cool water and drank it right down, followed by 32 oz. of water. The dose took effect within 20 minutes, and by 5:30 p.m. I was done. I take the 2nd dose tomorrow morning at 4:00 a.m. -- we'll see how that goes. I do feel somewhat chilled and I have a slight headache. The worst part so far was having to sit on the toilet for so long -- my tush is sore!

Suprep easier than the Fleet's because you drink less, but result is the same. Bloating goes away as you evacuate. Second round goes faster as there is not much left in you, but the chills are a side effect for which i was not prepared. Keep a blanket close by! Baby wipes and vaseline are both good suggestions. Cutting out fiber for few days prior, also a great idea. Doctor said 3-5, i only did 3-4 completely fiber free. Hard not to eat veggies! After the prep you might think you are hungry but you don't want anything, so that is a good thing........ bad part is that 2nd dose is at midnight and i have to be in hospital at 6:45 AM! no sleep!! It's almost 2AM and i think i might be done -- if so... off to sleep for 3.5 hrs!

It started wiithin an hour of drinking this suprep, nasty dimetapp tasting crap, I had an extremely massive headache, then I started getting hot, really fast. Felt like I had to throw up, as I went to walk toward the bathroom BLAAAAAAAAAM. Violent Projectile Vomit with my head on the sink, yes the sink, I couldn't stand up at this point. Threw up a tremendous amount, and it hurt like crazy. I was soaked in sweat at this point, then I started freezing and shaking, breathing really heavily and clenching my jaw. I saw on the floor of the bathroom in the dark moaning for about 15 minutes before I could get to bed, where I froze and shook some more before finally relaxing. Definitely not taking this crap EVER again. And for 45$ with insurance it felt like I took some bad drugs or something. Almost went to the emergency room and I probably should have. Anyway, good luck to future participants.

I used suprep last sunday before my colonoscopy on Monday. No problems. I did first dose at 3:00 and second at 9:00. I was through cleansing at 11:00. Probably would have liked to start a little earlier on second dose. Drank water with concentrated lemon juice after the doseage and it cleared out the aftertaste. No cramping involved and doc liked the cleanout.

Hello, I took the first dose if suprep at 12:30 am. Nothing happened...... I began the second dose at 6:30, and could not even get more than two ounces down, without having to vomit. I called the pharmicist, and asked if I could use dulcolax. Thankfully he said yes, and ten minutes after use of dulcolax I was running to the bathroom. (Oh, I drank hot water behind it). My advice would be to fast the day you start taking suprep drinking only fluids, and begin a soft food or liquid diet 2 days prior. Also much prayer. U wish all if you the best. God bless!

This is my third colonoscopy. For the first two I had to take GoLytely, which tastes like a cross between salt water and whatever fruit flavored packet you choose. You also have to drink 2 gallons of it - regardless of your size. I started vomiting after a few glasses (each time). This time - Suprep. I drank it down in a few minutes (with a straw - and hold your nose - even when you are taking a breath in between sips or gulps). As soon as I finished (which took about 3 minutes) I licked a lemon and the taste was gone. I have already chased it with 24 oz of water (in under 25 minutes) so I have only one more 8 oz bottle to drink in the next 35 minutes. The Suprep tastes like funky cough syrup, as someone said, but it is MUCH less awful than GoLytely.

I took 1st dose of Suprep at 4:30 pm today it is now almost midnight and have had no results. I am wondering if anyone else had this issue. I have to take the next dose at 5 in the morning. I could use some advice. Thank you. Pretty nervous right now.

I started having results in about 90 minutes, but about 8 hours later they really started almost right before I took the second dose, which worked immediately.

Also, I drank a lot more than they said. I had 4 bowls of clear broth and another 24 ounces of water and Sprite zero - try to drink more.

It started finally after 12 hours, right before I took the 2nd dose. Just wondering how long it will take now for the results to be finished, it seems to have wound down (almost 8 am) have to leave here in 1 hour for 10:30am appt. Thanks for your help. Will be interesting to see what the doctor thinks about the prep. I am not convinced that it is a complete clean out.

Yes, I am taking Osmoprep. It's 32 pills....I take 4 at a time every 15 min. It's sooooooooo much better than Surep. I could not drink Surep if my life depended on it. I absolutely tried drinking this stuff and was only able to get 1/4 of it down before throwing up. After that every sip I took I either gagged or threw up. I have no idea why my doctor didn't give me an option until I called to cancel my appointment because I could not finish the Surep. Ask for the pills.....they taste bad and are about as big as a multi vitamin but they're cake compared to Surep. I think I'd rather drink my urine than ever taste that stuff again.

Its a hell of a lot better than that giant milkjug of stuff I had to drink last time. (But its still kind of gross) Buy some country time lemonade powder and mix it in. That makes is a lot better.

OMG, they should tell you before hand it has Sucralose (Splenda) in it. I am allergic to Splenda. Now what? The bloating and discomfort probably is coming from that. My doctor also gave me anti-nausea meds so I don't throw up.

Just wanted to follow up on my Colonoscopy procedure using Suprep on 4/11. I was nervous because I had no results for 12 hours. I had bloating and abdominal discomfort for 6+ hours, which made it impossible to get any sleep. At 5 am I began to get the 2nd dose ready, and right before I took it I had results, that lasted almost 2 hours, on and off. I took the second dose as well. My appt was for 10:30 but got to the hospital around 9:30. The doctor found a polyp and removed it. He said the quality of the prep was good. The good thing about Suprep is no vomiting. It does taste nasty though, but you take less of it than other preps. I have to have another test in 3 years, so hopefully by then they will have come up with an even better prep.

I should have followed up. I was afraid my prep was not complete but the doctor said it was perfect (and he gave me pictures of my intestine to prove it.) For those who said the Suprep was intolerable, you should be glad you've never used GoLytely - that takes (like what I can only imagine) urine combined with salt water would taste like - just hideous. Pills would be ideal but I've read they are a little harder on the kidneys (at least the ones I read about.) I don't have to go for 10 years, which makes me a little nervous, but I'll live with it.

I just tried Suprep at 6:00 pm this evening. It's not bad at all. Kind of tastes like cherry cough medicine watered down combined with a light salty taste. Afterwards, it took 1 3/4 hours before it took effect. I started to get concerned because nothing was happening so I drank a 16 oz. bottle of water and that got things moving. I think it's important to continue drinking throughout the evening. So far, no more activity after a half hour.

I took the first dose of Suprep at 5 pm. The taste is very bad (cough syrup). I used a straw to drink it which helped somewhat. I also stopped 4 times to chew Trident gum to get a break from the nasty taste. It was very hard to drink the 4 cups of water afterward. I felt bloated, but at least it didn't make me nauseous. I still have a little diarrhea (10 pm), but the worst of it was over by 7 pm. It will be hard to drink the second dose tomorrow morning.

I had a horrible experience when using Suprep. After the first dose I developed a horrible headache. An hour later I began having bowel movements and then the vomitting began. To make a long story short, I ended up in the ER and they nerly lost me. My electrolytes were so low and I was so dehydrated. My heart rythmn was off And the paramedics were having trouble getting me regulated. After two days in the hospital I am still very weak and my Lipase enzymes are very high. All from taking this SUPREP. I have no other health problems. I will never take it again.
