Has anyone used the new SUPREP kit before a colonoscopy?

Would like any comments about taste, ease or side effects.

Thanks!

I made it through the prep…the procedure was the easy part. The directions were to start the prep at 6 pm, then wake up at 3am for the second dose! I would recommend starting the prep much earlier, say 3 pm. The your second prep as directed, but finish before a reasonable hour so that you can get your sleep! This is huge. I don't know why none of the specialists told me this!

This is my sixth colonoscopy and first use of Suprep. I was to start the first bottle at six pm and second at four am tomorrow morning. I decided to move the first dose up a few hours so I started at four pm. My procedure is at 10:30 Tom. I have been on clear liquids for one and a half days. I used a straw and cool water to mix but decided not to chill the mixture. I didn't finish the last 1/4 of mixture due to gagging and vomit in mouth. The mixture is such a sweet cherry thick syrup taste that it made me so nauseated. When I finished the first bottle I managed to get two 16oz bottles of water down but my stomach really swelled up and I was bloated. I also got chills and a headache something I never experienced with earlier prep solutions. What has helped for me; using a straw following each sip of mixture with plain water and using a heating pad for the cramps and chills. Also, used vaseline to ease the pain on my rectum due to all the bathroom trips. I watched a very close friend battle and die from colon cancer. My grandfather died of it at the age of fifty-four and my dad has had ploys removed so I am willing to be preventative and deal with the prep rather than the high risk of this grueling cancer. The procedures are the easy part for me. I am sedated and do not feel anything. I usually have some gas to pass from the procedure so it helps to walk and move around once the sedative wears off. I'll start my second bottle in the am hours and I am hoping it goes down better than the first. I will request a different prep solution next time.

OK so my Dr gave me this for my test 1st timer). I chilled mixture used a straw to drink while holding my nose and chased with water/Gatorade. The taste was soo vile I only got about 1/2 down before I started violently vomitting. So Dr gave me moviprep instead but also said if I couldn't handle that to do the miralax. Needless to say couldn't handle those either (guess I'm extremely sensitive) so ended up having to do enemas and goes going to do a "power flush" while in there... hopefully test can be done. This experience has been a absolute nightmare! Dr thinks I nay have issue with small bowel and improper absorbtion and that's why its making me so sick. Idk. I will never try suprep again! Good luck to everyone I hope all goes well. God bless.

I don;t think I needed it. I was going for 4 hours before i had the second dose.and I threw up the second dose and kept going anyway. I think if you just drank 2 more 16 oz of water ofr any clear liquid you would be o. k. This is just my opinion I did read here someone just took one dose and was fine.

I started with my second bottle a few hours before my scheduled time . I was suppose to start at 4:00 am but I chose to take it at 1:00 am hoping I could get a few hours of sleep before scheduled time of 10:30. I got close to 1/2 of the mixture down and threw it up so I didn't finish the final half. I was afraid I wouldn't be cleaned out enough since I didn't keep any of second bottle down so I purchased a fleet enema early am. After my procedure my gastro doctor said I was cleaned out inside and must have done well with the prep. I did drink a lot of water for my liquid diet. I will never use the suprep again though, it was much too harsh on my system.

The key is to get clear u nay only need one dose to achieve that.. really just depends. I would say to eat very light for a few days before u start prep then of course nothing on prep day.. this helps a lot.. just remember the more u put in the more u have to get out..

Just had colonoscopy two days ago. Given script for Suprep. Came to this site before beginning prep for tips. Was terrified of the taste and possible gag/vomiting reactions based on posters here. Found the taste tolerable. Mixed only with cool water and drank within 5-10 minutes. Took first prep at 4 and had first movement within 20 minutes. No cramping or bloating. Continued to drink water over the next two hours. Absolutely necessary to clean and soothe bottom after each movement because backside will become raw. I used wet wipes and lathered on the Vaseline after each movement. Toilet runs became less frequent as the night wore on; took second dose at 10:30--up until 3:00 am. Procedure was scheduled for 7:00. Very tired, sore bottom, low grade headache probably from lack of food and sleep. Followed food/drink prep suggested by doctor and ate nothing day before the exam. Was definitely clear and clean after second prep. Worst was how bad my bottom hurt, even with all the Vaseline. Told nurses that morning I would never do this again. To which they replied, "Don't ever say never..." I was grateful for this reality check--colonoscopy prep and a sore bottom is nothing compared to the suffering of cancer patients these nurses must see every day. Will not complain again and will have another test in 10 years--no history of colon cancer in my family and my scope was clear.

I have had many preps before and most are awful. I'm trying to get the second part of this prep down now. I'm struggling. I've had colon cancer previously so I want to be really clean but this is awful. After the first bottle & water I felt lousy, headache, very cold and cramps. I fell asleep about 5 hours after taking it but woke up with it coming back up into my month. Gross I know. I am having trouble keeping the second part down.

i think 1 dose can be find. I threw it up but kept going to the toilet anyway. Good Luck!

You would think if they can go to the moon the could find a more pleasant prep!

I really think you have to drink plenty of fluids to dilute the prep. Have broth, even gummy bears as long as they are yellow or clear. I had a hard time getting the prep down also but I did finish the water within the hour time frame. Lying down is the worst. I have reflux and you shouldn't lie down until at least three hours after consuming food/drink or it will come back up. I am good for another 10 years! Maybe they will have something better by then.

I was startled to feel chilled too. I checked my temp and it was 97.1, so it was a real chill. It lasted quite a while, too.

I read your post. I am 115 lbs and get cramps easily. Same advice? should I take it all? Supposed to take it at 5pm and 3 am for 10:30 am procedure.

Thanks, friend.

Well I drank it all as I was concerned I would not be thoroughly cleaned..be sure to use the Vaseline and wet wipes if you have them. I guess I would drink until everything runs clean.

Had my first colonoscopy today, used suprep for prep. I had read quite a few of the post before hand and this was very helpful. I had no problems at all with the suprep. It tasted very weird, but tolerable. It worked great for me with no side effects. I took first dose yesterday at 5:00 pm and second dose at 11:00 pm. My procedure was at 7:00 am. Everything went well and I received a clean bill of health! I mixed suprep with chilled water and a splash of ginger ale, then poured it into a water bottle and chugged it down. It began to work in thirty minutes. Hope this helps someone else. I prayed and had others praying for me as well. I give God the glory for bringing me through this "adventure".

I also found Suprep to cause serious nausea on an empty stomach (liquid diet). For the first dose, I drank 1/3, ate a little white bread, drank next 1/3, ate a little white bread, drank last 1/3. Then a half hour later, I drank a lot of water for two hours. For the second dose, I drank 1/3 at a time, following each with a water chaser and then drank a lot of water for the next two hours. I also put myself in a very relaxed state because that decreases the nausea. Lots of running to the loo all night long LOL. The last three hours I ran clear and by the 7am colonoscopy, was clean as a whistle and dehydrated and tired, having no sleep. I experienced no cramping with the cleanse, and that was nice.

My experience with Suprep turned out much better than I had anticipated. I mixed it with white grape/peach juice and it tasted exactly like a vodka-redbull mixed drink. I made sure it was ice cold and used a straw and just chugged. Started working in about 30mins; minimal abdominal discomfort. I began my clear liquid diet 24hrs prior to beginning my prep. Took my second dose the following morning and it was even easier that time. I was going clear about 4hrs prior to my procedure.

I am only 16 years old and I undergo my first colonoscopy tomorrow at 3 PM. I was prescribed Suprep and let me say- it is absolutely terrible. I took my first 16oz dose at 5pm today. The taste is like dirty thick salt water mixed with grape cough syrup and cheap alcohol. I diluted my prep with tap water and chased it with cold water. I couldn't even manage to get through the first dose without vomiting. Next dose is at 5am tomorrow morning before the procedure. wish me luck :(

Drink 1/3 of the diluted mixture, then water chaser, then another 1/3, then water chaser, then last 1/3, then water chaser.
