That is outrageous. I got it when it first came out and I paid $95. You buy the same thing in Canada for less than $20. It has been available there for years and doesn't require a prescription. Offhand I don't remember the name. There is also a coupon on their website. To me it was worth it as I couldn't handle the other stuff.

But you don't have to drink them fast. You can drink them at your own pace over the next hours unlike some of preps where you have to drink something every 15 minutes. That is one reason it is easier.

Buy peppermint lifesavers and suck on it for a minute or so until your mouth is kinda numb. Drink half. Suck on the lifesaver for another few seconds and drink the rest. I did that for my last 2 colonoscopies. For the first one I had to drink the huge amount so I sucked on lots of lifesavers! My experience with prepopik was horrible. Went nonstop for 17 hours, right thru the night. Never had that happen before. I guess everyone's system reacts differently. Good luck.

Taste was not bad and first dose went well. However five hours after second dose I was still expelling large volume of liquid every 10 to 20 minutes with an exploding headache, violent sneezing and running nose. Also very bad cramps.

I can answer Katarina's question--about whether or not Prepopik worked! NO! This was to have been my 7th colonoscopy, so I'm not a newcomer. Am 65, a college educated, female, with family history of colon cancer. I was on a really low residue diet for 5 days prior to prep day, and better, was also eating only once a day for those 5 days. Took 1st dose the evening before procedure, at 5 PM and 4 hours later, nothing. By 11 PM, after being dizzy and head-achy I didn't follow my MD's recommendation for waiting til next AM, but took 2nd dose--that is PREPOPIK's own default schedule! It's right in the literature. Around 3 AM, I started having some action; some solid, some fluid. Thought my troubles were over and the dam was going to break at last! No way. I sat there, bored--my brain was too fuzzy by then to try and read magazines. (it creeps me out anyway, reading in the john, even though I use plastic gloves for the icky stuff, then discard and wash up like a surgeon) Boy, was I nauseated and dizzy. None of this has never happened with any other prep. After 4 AM, nothing. Then, at 7 AM, one pea-sized, rock-solid item! That's it! I'd used Desitin ointment for whole thing, but could have lived without it, that's how little I achieved.

At 9 AM, I threw up about 2 cups of icky fluid, and felt so much better in the nausea department. It had just sat there, all night, making me feel bloated. I'd wondered why I wasn't hungry. Now I knew. I was too full of fluids that hadn't even made it through the duodenum. I was backed up in site of that stuff.

Called MD's office. Nurse I knew said we should try going in anyway. This was for a 2 PM arrival time. Procedure would be later. We agreed--maybe they could irrigate me.
By the time I got there, wearing my precaution, a Depends adult diaper (it arrived in spotless condition) the RN in the department said, no way, because I'd obviously had no luck at all with the prep, and worse, by far, it was all MY fault for not following the holy man's orders. On top of this, I was nauseous again, and since I was also going to have an upper endoscopy first, we both agreed: I'd barf and aspirate the fluid. I was so mad!!! Since we're on Medicare, and my otherwise good insurance wouldn't pay for this stuff, I was out the money. Since I'm going to be rescheduled, I want the MD's office to give me some of the BIG PLASTIC BOTTLE stuff, which works without the side effects and does a good job on me. I guess you could call that endless debacle, "$145.00 Down the Tube." Someone should make a documentary by the same name.

Now, a day and a half after that mess, I'm still P.O.'d, but far worse, still dizzy. I looked that up elsewhere and found it wasn't uncommon. Have to watch going up and down stairs, for sure. And unlike a man on another site, I'm not having two days of the runs, I'm still backed up! As they say in commercials, individual results may vary, but for this savvy woman, NO MORE PREPOPIK EVER. Oh, and did you know it's made in China??? Probably by the people who made poisonous dog food for America's top name in pet food.

My procedure is not till Feb. Walgreens wanted $96 so I held back. My doctor was not aware of the product and did write a prescription for me and said I could be his guinea pig but after seeing the price and I went and got the free one at his office which is Suprep. Anyone used this? I may still pay the money and get the other or I may write the company and see if they will send a sample or rep to my doctor. Have a little time.

In order for Prepipk to dissolve you need to mix it with WATER and stir for 2 minutes. That's where the drug "compounds." it doesn't say mix it with Gatorade!!!! Read the directions. Compliance is the biggest part of getting any drug to work right.

I am surprised a doctor would prescribe something that might make people throw up as that could really compromise the whole purpose of a cleanse. It is the first it has been mentioned on this thread. The doctors around here use Suprep and I think Kaiser uses Movieprep. I am not scheduled for 4 more years and it will depend on my overall health as I will be 82 and probably won't care

Thanks, Johnny, was that in the US? and what did it cost? I really don't care if it is easy to use. I may need to convince my Gastro in some way.
