I have never heard of anyone being told that. That makes no sense especially since you mention spring water which is not necessarily that pure. It also doesn't say that on any websites. I think you might be mistaken in what you are thinking.

Just make sure the water is good and cold. It warms up with the stirring and the chemical reaction. It tastes much better cold than warm! I put the water in the fridge for 2nd dose.

Agree on the cold water!!!! I was super surprised of how it tasted. Not what I was used to in the past. I did my last one 5 years ago and kept dreading to go see a Gastro because I thought the drinking of the gallon was the worse. Times have changed and I tell all my friends that are due to get a colonoscopy that Prepopik was the easiest and it tasted like orange lemonade. I didbt use the restroom after my first dose for a few hours but I was clean. Highly recommend Prepopik and I only paid $17 with tricare :)

I start my prep today, but unlike everyone else here it seems my prep is slightly different.

My prep sheet says to take Dulcolax at noon (in 2 1/2 hours) then at 6pm use the first packet of Prepopik followed by 5 8oz drinks over 3 hours. Then at 9pm use the 2nd pack followed by 3 8oz drinks over 3 hours.

I will say I am completely nervous, but slightly alleviated due to the reviews I have read on the stuff. I'm hoping it goes by without any problems, such as vomiting, or not taking effect until early in the morning before my prep (which is at 9am). I am assuming that the Dulcolax kind of gets things started, while the Prepopik finishes the job in this set up.

As for cost, mine ended up only being $10 with my insurance.

It is now 9:20 p.m. And I took my first dose at 5:00 p.m. I have had zero results thus far? Any suggestions? Comments? Prepopik is way better than others that I never could swallow.

Took the medication exactly as written. First at 5 pm. Nothing happened all night. The. Woke this morning at 5 am took second dose. Again here it is 8am and still nothing. I am on the phone right now cancelling my procedure. Total waste of a day. And based in what I am reading. Sounds like I will end up on the toilet all day :(.

I have never heard of anyone where it didn't work. It is not as fast and as intense as some o the others. I have a very slow system so added Dulcolax but that usually isn't necessary. Is this a routine colonoscopy? You need to discuss this with your doctor.

It did end up working but 24 hours later. Had to cancel procedure. When it did work it lasted hours. Anything I eat goes right through me. I wish I would have been told to use the duculex with it. I haven't spoken with the doctor yet. Will have to reschedule today. The one positive about the prep is the taste. But I would be nervous to use it again. I would have to start the prep and fast 2 days before

Used Prepopik yesterday for today's colonoscopy and all went well; this prep is a huge improvement on the older gallon-of-horrible stuff prep. I took my first dose yesterday at noon, drank a lot of water afterwards (more than the 5-8 oz. glasses suggested) and had results about 2 1/2 hours later. Second dose was at 6 pm, I drank water until 10:30 (also more than suggested)and I finished the clean-out around midnight.

I could not keep the older prep down but had no issues with Prepopik, both because of the improved taste and the smaller volume of solution that I was required to drink. I did feel a little nauseous after the first dose, but I think that was because I drank a lot (3 large glasses) of water right away and therefore had a huge volume of the stuff in my stomach. I didn't have this problem after the second dose because I drank water more gradually. I also brushed my teeth right after drinking the second dose and that helped to get rid of the aftertaste; the solution tasted to me like baby aspirin when I was drinking it but the aftertaste is less pleasant.

In any case, this was pretty easy and the results were good. I do think that the success or failure of this prep lies with the amount of water you drink after you ingest the solution, because the medicine cleans you out by drawing water into your colon. I'm a water drinker in any case and I probably drank twice the amount recommended. In any case, my doctor was pleased with the condition of my colon and best of all, I got a clean bill of health!

I am just finished with my colonoscopy using Prepopik. It took 11 hours for the Prepopik to take effect. It was by far the easiest prep I have had. It tasted okay and you only have to drink two 5 oz glasses of it. I was supposed to be on the split dosage (5 pm and 5 am for a 9 am procedure), but after 5 hours of nothing, I got permission to take my second dose early - at 11 pm. At 4 am my body finally told me to go to the bathroom. At 7am I was an unclear yellow, but that was good enough for my doctor. Another plus is that after 7 am I did not need to go to the bathroom again, however others have reported different experiences. With other preps I have had to go to the bathroom right up to the time of the procedure.
Prepopik is by far the best colonoscopy prep I have had so far. I wish I had known that it could take 11 hours.

I did my colonoscopy today and it was by far the easiest prep I have ever done!!!! I drank a lot of water too though. I do recommend drinking a lot of fluids the day of. I read a lot of information online and everything said the more fluids the better. I am glad that it's over and I have 10 years until my next one :) cost me $32

I started Prepopik 2 hrs ago. I've been vomiting and feeling very ill. NEVER AGAIN!

If this prep makes you sick I don't know what you could use as the others are much worse. You should stop taking it and call your doctor. Maybe you are allergic to something in it. You should not be throwing up with this little amount unless you are allergic or you are having anxiety.

I agree with Tammy. Anxiety or allergic to an ingredient. ?? Stop drinking the prep and continue to drink sprite/water and call dr at 8 am.

I was advised by a pharmacist to take the second dose because vomiting is a side effect. I threw up twice, and I went to the bathroom once after the first dose. I took my second dose at 6 am. Prepopik seems to work slowly. I hope I'm able to empty my colon prior to my procedure. It's at 2:45 pm. I'm going to ask my doctor if I can take a different prep the next time.

Easy, efficient, mild. I had no problems & didn't experience any negative effects..

You are the first person that said they vomited so you probably should use something different. I have friends that threw up some of the others and then they could not get cleaned out. It stands to reason if you are throwing up the prep it is not going to do the job. I would have called the doctor. If you didn't throw up the second dose I would say it was probably anxiety. I think it does work a little slower on some people. I took 2 dulcolax that night since my appt wasn't tiki late the next afternoon. It is the only thing I will use. I can't get the other stuff down. Too much to drink

Really?! My doctor said a lot of patients throw up the first dose and seem to tolerate the 2nd dose. I did well after the 1st dose. I don't think it was anxiety because I had a colonoscopy before, but I was prescribed movie prep which in my opinion is better. I pray I won't have to take that again. The procedure went well, and my results were normal, so I'm happy about that. I just hate the process prior to getting a colonoscopy.

Prepopik by far is the easiest prep to take!!!!! It tasted like a flat Mountain Dew. It did get a little warm which I wasn't aware of but overall for a bowel prep it did it's job. Tricare it cost me $14. Not one side effect. I didbt feel like a massive explosion was going to happen. I could walk to the bathroom. Overall for a colonoscopy prep it wasn't as bad this time as I remember 5 years ago.
