My period was due on 02/13/2016. I started taking metronidazole 500 mg tablets (2 per day for 5 days) and my period did not come. Is something wrong with me? ## Hello, Jane! How are you? Actually, it's very common for antibiotics to cause a longer cycle in some women that take them, so you may not start for a few more days, or until after you finish your course of treatment. If you don't start, at all, within a few days of finishing them, then you should consult your doctor. The FDA lists the other possible effects of antibiotics as typically including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. Oh and yes, I have personal experience with this, I usually start around day 27 of my cycle, but that last time I took antibiotics, I didn't start until day 32....

I started taking Metronidazole tablets today (Nov. 4th), which the doctor prescribed to take 3 times a day for 5 days. My period is due on Nov. 9th. Lately, I have been experiencing pain every time I am on my period and I have taken several drugs like felvin, valgin & painkillers, but it won't stop. I even experience vomiting and frequent bowel movements. I was told to take metronidazole, will it stop if I use it?

My Dr prescribed Adco-Metronida 400mg for me to take 1x3 and I just took my last dosage for the day. I then had a cup of coffee and I started vomiting. Does this mean that I can't consume coffee until the treatment is finished? ## Have you been taking them with food or on an empty stomach? I'm thinking that it's most likely just a side effect of the medication and not directly related to the coffee consumption. Hi. So in efforts to get pregnant my husband and i have increased sexual activity. I started noticing irritation when I urinated and thought it was a uti. Yesterday when the irritation increased after urinating into more of a bv situation, I took some Metronidazole pills I had already. Problem is I only had 3 tabs, so I took those every 8 hours. I currently am taking Metronidazole and have a cavity and can't get to the dentist till next week. I have taken Tylenol but it still hurts. This medication says to not take any barbiturates. I need to know if metronidazole will cause a false postive on a drug test hair and urine. My wife was suffering from gum problems. Dr gave her Metrogyl gel to apply to her gums. Now Metrogyl contains Ornidazole. After application for a day she complained of stomach pain. Can application of Ornidazole inside the mouth cause stomach pains? ## Metrogyl actually contains the active ingredient Metronidazole, it's similar to, but not the same as Ornidazole. And yes, it could cause stomach pain and nausea, because even applied topically to her gums, she is still going to swallow a slight amount of it. Has she consulted her dentist? I have a pill that's small (a little smaller than a pencil eraser), round, bluish green & not shiny, with no markings except for a score in the front | middle for halving a dose. Vet says it is metronidazole but it is making my dog sick. ## In what was is it making your dog sick? I had to take plan b in early November, and ended up having two periods a week apart from each other. 11/14-11/18 and 11/24-11/28. That was my last period. I ended up being prescribed metronidazole for BV which I think started from the two periods jacking up my PH.. I took 2 pills a day for 7 days and this was early December. It's January 3rd and I'm now 12 days late for my period. I'm having symptoms but can't tell them apart from PMS, side effects, or pregnancy symptoms.. they include: Sore breasts/nipples, fatigue, on and off slight cramping for a week or so now, hot flashes, more creamy white discharge, occasional headaches, and moodiness.
