Lyrica Lawsuit (Page 55)

Updated

Does anyone know if there is an ongoing lawsuit against the company who puts out Lyrica? I am a mess from it. Do we have a leg to stand on when it comes to the side effects they found out from people like us? I am a long termer. I have been taking 900 mg since 2005. Is there anyone representing us? Thank you

Hi Melinda , you mentioned a lower tolerance to frustration , apart from memory impairment Lyrica triggered a very severe Anxiety disorder that has been very difficult to treat in my son , but as you said, with what you are going through i am sure most people would feel greatly stressed , i don't suppose there is any way you could work it out with your husband and kiss and make up ? you could high light the effects of pain and Lyrica , you sound like a very logical , intelligent and lovely person, , if this was a dating site , i would not mind checking you out my self ............

Hi Mary , things sound like they are getting worse ? has your condition been this consistently bad since you took the Lyrica ?

Hi nick, yes to your question. My short term memory has not been as good as it was before lyrica. I don't expect it to ever return. It takes a long time, years in fact, for the neurons to repair themselves or find new pathways. It's hard work retraing your brain.

Hi Nick,
Thanks for your lovely compliments. And no, there's no chance for my husband and I. The truth is he's an alcoholic who verbally, emotionally and psychologically abused me for the three years of our marriage. I think I did rather well under the circumstances not to knock him out. :) The confusion that came with the lyrica, along with the lowered tolerance for frustration didn't help of course, and I believe that without it, I could have stayed calmer and dealt with things differently. However, now that I'm out of the situation, I have no desire to patch things up. I have come to realize just how cruel someone must be to illtreat someone who is so clearly ill. The lyrica may have made me into a different person at the time, and the anxiety was certainly intense...but my husband has absolutely no excuse for his ugly behaviour.

I've come across large numbers of people who have had anxiety, even full-blown anxiety disorder, triggered by the lyrica - people who had never had this issue in their lives. There is clearly a cause and effect link - but the drug companies will surely never admit to that. I will continue to research the subject and let you know if I come up with anything that might help you and your son.

If this was a dating site, I might check you out also. Stay strong.
Melinda

Thanks again Melinda , my delema with my son is how does he restore his razor sharp memory , higher brain function , and stop the terrible anxiety , we have tried naturopathic preparations , large amounts of fish oil , multivitamins , exercise programs , learning a musical instrument , anxiety medications and 3.8 years post lyrica , he is about the same , this is permanent . It is hard enough treating regular organic anxiety let alone anxiety that has been born of Lyrica brain damage , he deffenetly had no anxiety before Lyrica and the change was almost instant when he took the higher doses of Lyrica . . ....Ps With a name like Melinda i cannot imagine you being unattractive , its like the name Emma , never seen an ugly one yet , the age old question is why do the really good looking ones seem to always over look the really good hearted nice guys and finish up with complete jerks ? would love to know how the female mind works ....If i ever drive to Queensland would you meet me for lunch ?

Hi Nick,
It seems to me, you and your son are doing all the right things, trying all the possible paths, to restore your son's cognitive functioning. I wish I was a neurologist with the expertise to be able to come up with something more for you. The experts seem as perplexed as we are ourselves, and perhaps even more so. It would seem that interference with brain functioning at your son's age is a complete unknown. Why in the name of heaven would any medical practitioner risk it? Taking up a musical instrument was a great idea. I'm sorry it made no difference. If you'll forgive me, I'll sign off for tonight because it's late and I'm exhausted. But if you drove to Queensland, of course I'd want to meet you. We already have a connection in common. I will very much keep you and your son in my ... possibly very unconventional...prayers.

I have also been on Lyrica, and have had terrible side effects. I also live in Michigan and I cannot find an attorney that is doing a class action lawsuit on Lyrica. If you hear of any, please let me know. I also have a friend in Ohio who is having very serious problems and I told her to quit taking it and she recently did.

Hi Nick,
I'm just dropping by to see how your son is getting along; whether or not he has had any improvement at all. In a few months time I have an appointment with a neurologist, mainly because of my primary condition, which is neurological, but I will also (if I manage to remember!) ask about the lyrica - and even attempt to educate the doctor regarding its side effects if he happens to be unaware of it (which is almost certain). I have been too exhausted by my own personal legal battles at the moment to put any more thought or effort into chasing up a class action. I wish things were different. Cheers for now.

Hi Melinda , thanks for your message , wondered where you got to ,i missed our little chats , my Son still has not improved despite nearly four years post lyrica , recently we tried higher doses of fish oil and higher doses of vitamin supplements and even 2 table spoon fulls per day of fresh olive oil from a friends farm , the rest of him looks fantastic but still has the Lyrica symptoms , could you please write down the following numbers 0437 and keep them aside until next time . Lyrica with out doubt is a very dangerous drug , even many illegal drugs have to be taken in very high doses for a long time before they cause permanent brain damage .

Hi Nick,
It's late and I should be in bed...but am a night owl. I've written down the numbers you gave me...thank you. I find it distressing that your son still has the lyrica symptoms. I'll definitely question my neurologist about it. Unfortunately, I don't have an appointment until the end of June; these specialists are so difficult to get into. You wouldn't want to have a brain tumour - one would be dead before the first appointment was scheduled! It sounds as though you're doing absolutely all the right things for your boy...yet I can't help but hope there'll be a breakthrough at some point in the future. It's simply too unjust for this to be happening. I've met a lady through a facebook group, who is tapering off the lyrica and is having incredible withdrawals from it. While she was on it, she developed extreme anxiety, despite being a very calm person throughout her life. And of course she's had the memory issues as well. I'm hoping all will be well for her within a couple of months of taking her last dose, but we can't be sure. Another lady has been off the lyrica for years and her memory has never returned in full. I am perhaps one of the luckier ones.Take care for now.

With Lyrica, the cure is worse than the disease.

Thanks Melinda , your comment about that other lady developing extreme anxiety from lyrica was very interesting as my son also developed the same severe anxiety when he took lyrica , he had no sign of before that , in fact he used to thrive on stress , it used to really motivate him and he did his best work , you can add 2298 to the last lot , now the slightest problem and he is a suicidal mess ..

I have been off lyrica since last September and still suffer with anxiety I know was caused by lyrica. Everyday is at one point or another is still a struggle. I pray all will be healed from this and I know one day the drug maker will have to answer for this before God.

Hi Bonnie don't expect any justice this side of heaven , the world is corrupt , especially corporate greed in the USA , would like to know what dose of Lyrica you were on and for how long , my son peaked at 75 mg x 4 per day and the severe Anxiety disorder kicked in like turning on a switch

Hi Nick, I was on 200 mgs twice a day but the doctor's changed it to 400mgs all at once at night time for 4 years. The last few day's and I have noticed that it seems like I just drift away from reality. I have anger issue's that are unexplained and I lash out even still after being off since September of 2013. Thank God we have a strong married because to tell you the truth I won't put up with me. My husband is great and so is my new doctor. My new doctor wants me to bring this website to him so he may read the posting's and understand what I have explained to him a little better. I will continue to pray for your son and other's. God Bless

Hi Nick, and thank you. I have the additions written down. The lady I've been in contact with is not the only one who experienced the onset of severe anxiety due to the lyrica. The difficulty in linking the two - the lyrica and the anxiety - seems to stem largely from the fact that this particular symptom, anxiety, is a late onset phenomenon. That is, it can occur many months or even years after beginning the lyrica, so it's hard to make a connection between the two. I believe Pfizer have admitted that this can happen, though I would have to go back through posts to verify this. I have to be quite honest and admit that, for me, the tendency towards anxiety is part of my personality. I've spent many years learning how to mediate this innate trait, with some satisfaction and success. I experienced other effects from this medication, however, that I'd never experienced before, like amnesia and episodes of rage (which are so far removed from my personality, the effects of lyrica just MUST be significant and causal). Brain chemistry is still only partially understood. So many things have been discovered by 'accident', eg that some antidepressants also mediate pain; or that the drug that helps ameliorate symptoms in Parkinson's disease (or perhaps it was Huntington's - can't remember) also happens to have a positive effect on Schizophrenia. There are times when I really wish I was Sherman from The Big Bang Theory. :) Take care.

So Bonnie, at least you have a doctor that listens. Mine just ignores what I say about Lyrica. I have been off Lyrica for over 2 years. I had never had anxiety attacks before Lyrica. My eyesight has changed. Oh s*** I could go on and on. I have posted on this site before. I have many lingering problems from taking this medicine, including memory loss (which to me is like stealing part of your life), weight gain, etc. All I can say is hang in there.

Thank you, I will , I to have suffered memory lost , lapse in time and reoccurring headaches, in a fog like state and at times I feel like I detoxing all over again. Almost seven months post lyrica 400mg per night for four years is how they prescribed it to me. I don't go out much in fear of this happening to me.

Melinda, wow, I am so glad I read your post. I only took Lyrica a few months, and the side effects were out of control and haven't gone away. But the anxiety, I had no idea that could be from Lyrica, especially since, like you were saying, it may not start right away. Two years after stopping it I began having severe anxiety attacks, that got so bad over the following year I was severly depressed and was falling apart. I could not understand where these attacks were coming from, no one in my family ever had anything like it, I never even knew anyone who experienced such a thing. I felt like whatever your body has to deal with stress, I must've run out of it, because the slightist thing, or NOTHING, would set one off. They've been well under control lately, but only with medication. I wonder what other surprises await us all from taking this poison.

Hi Melinda , thanks for your reply and if you add 68 to that you are all done and the ball is in your court . The Anxiety issue was rarely mentioned in early-er reports but is now being mentioned as occurring at a later time after Lyrica , Pfyzer may argue that chronic pain may trigger anxiety but the transition with my son was so obvious and clear cut from seeing and knowing what he was like before lyrica and being on lyica the Anxiety onset was very instant and unmistakable ..
