Lo Loestrin Fe And Continuous Bleeding (Page 4)

I started taking Lo Loestrin FE on Feb. 2nd and it is now Feb. 21st and I have been bleeding non-stop (literally all day, every day). Doctor says to wait it out for 3 months... 3 months of non-stop bleeding? I've heard of breakthrough bleeding but this crazy!

Hi, i have been bleeding non stop since the birth of my baby in feb and doc has had me injected and on pills to stop the bleeding but it hasnt so now he says i should go on the pill, does it work? Or a womb scrub is better?

I'm on my first pack of Lo loestrin Fe after switching from Yasmin. I started bleeding five days after I began taking the pills. I bled for about ten days then the bleeding stopped. I have four more blue active pills left until finishing the pack. I am working out every day to counteract any unpleasant side effects while on this pill and I'm feeling great. So far so good.

WOW! I thought I was the only one, thank goodness for this site!!
I'm at my wit's end, the reason I went to my OB was for controlling my heavy periods, and now I bleed constantly it is bright bleeding???!!! weekly!! I'm a healthy 40+ year old woman.
After reading the comments here, I made an appointment ASAP...no woman should go thru this "breakthru bleeding" at all. It's 2012 for god's sakes!
I'm on my second pack of Loestrin as well, no nausea, no mood changes, but I do have one gripe and that is the "bleeding". It's sooo annoying and aggravating.
How can a woman feel sexy when bleeding??!! Arrrrgh!

So I have been on Lo loestrin Fe for over 5 months now. My periods have been short little bleeding but all of a sudden half way through my 5th month I am bleeding more then I have ever bleed before. This is the 3rd day of heavy bleeding and I still have a week and a half before the end of this pack. Not sure if this is normal please help!

Thank Goodness for this site... I am on my 3rd week of this horrible pill.... I started taking it cause I was having irregular periods..but now I have a constant, gushing flow of period everyday for over a week... I am about to lose my mind... I have heavy so heavy I am having to wear two overnight pads to make sure I don't leak any where and having to change them ever hour and alot of clotting. I dont like going anywhere for fear of leaking on a seat or ruining an outfit.. I have ruined almost every pair of comfy panties I own... I have had to buy pads again , which normally last me through 2 period cycles, I have went through 2 packages (normally would last 4 months)... This is NOT my idea of regulating my period... I left a message for my doctor waiting for a response, but If she says to just wait it out...yea ok... not this chick I will be stopping this pill....Definately birth control cause who wants to have sex, when you have a faucet of blood flowing out your hoohaw...

I quit taking them today, I am not going to ever take them again... I have never bleed like this in my whole life and its discusting...running down my legs in the shower this stuff needs to be banned.

I have the same problem! I've been on Lo Loestrin for over 6 months and have had light short periods on time. Last month my period came 4 days early and was extremely heavy for one week. This month I am two weeks into the pack and started the heavy bleeding again... Have you found any answers??

The exact same thing happened to me! My cycle started Jan 21. I started my pill pack on that day and for the first 4-5 days i was only spotting a little. After that, my flow came with a vengeance and has not stopped. I am gushing blood still and it is Feb 5 with no end in sight. I am hoping this is my body adjusting to the medication, I will give it another month. But I can't deal with this nonstop bleeding.

Hello moody girls with a dry vagina, well this is how I feel after taking this pill for 1 week. I've been having headaches and feelings of sadness along with sleepiness. I tried having sex with my husband and we were both in pain due to dryness which never has happened before. All this from lo loestrin FE. I think I'm gonna try the implanon this stuff is disturbing and not for me. Good luck for those who stick with it but I refuse. Bye Bye:)

There has to be a way to stop this nonsense. We need to sue this pharmaceutical company. There has to be a "bad" batch or something, because I have read comments from some women that say they never had any problem with these pills before until recently. Two days ago I had to go to the ER because the pain, the bleeding and clotting was ridiculous. I couldn't sleep 2 hours straigth because I had to go to the bathroom to bleed and get a new pad, never mind going out during the day. I'm 28 years old, and ever since I remember I had irregular periods (every 2 or 3 months) but otherwise I'm very healthy. Years ago, a doctor suggested patches for few months to regulate my periods and they worked great. Later on, I had a beautiful baby. With the breastfeeding and all, my post-partum periods were irregular. Baby is now 14mos and my husband and I are trying to get pregnant again so I went to my OBGYN hoping to get the patches again to regulate my period. Instead I got Lo Loestrin FE which she highly recommended. 18 days later on the pill I started with my period, which it was OK for 4 days, but then it got really bad on Sunday. On Monday I was sent to the ER because I was bleeding too much... ultrasound, blood and urine test cameback OK... I got no explanation on why I was bleeding that bad and was sent home saying I should continue taking the pill. It is now Wednesday and even though the pain is not as bad, I'm still bleeding a lot, and very bright. My Dr says continue with the pills and gave me an app for next Tuesday, but all I want to do is to stop taking this pill, get patches or a different pill, and sue this company because it is not right there are so many women out there, in the past couple of months that are having the same problem. It can't be healthy for anyone to be in such condition!

Follow up on my comment on 01/18/12
Ladies, do go back to your OB-GYN and have them check you for uterine fibroids and options on other birth control pills, it is a shame that some doctors just want to shove you out the door!!
Something my "old" ob did not even discuss with me just gave me Loestrin24 and the bleeding was non stop, by no means I am not giving advise but only sharing at what my NEW WONDERFUL OB-GYN discussed with me.
Fibroids, diets, age, and many factors of why a pill might not work as well.
She gave me the higher dose 30 Loestrin but she said get the generic brand.Well ladies, my bleeding has stopped and I don't have no side effects.
I feel normal again. Just because we are women we don't need to bleed every single day of our lives.
Thank God my new OB heard my concerns.

To all you ladies going thru this terrible episode, I hope your Ob do listen to your concerns.

Ladies, you need to report this to the FDA. They won't do anything unless it's reported. The breast tenderness, low sex drive, mood change, gain weight... all these can be side effect symptoms, which you get with most contraceptives. BUT, the heavy bleeding for several days is not, it's not OK. You have to report it and you could even get compensated... the more people reporting, the more attention is drawn and FDA can recall the pill. That has happened in the past. You won't be compensated in any way if there is no proof that you ever reported the ABNORMAL bleeding to the FDA. It will take a bit of time to fill it out but it's easy. Help other women out there by recalling this pill and prevent to hurt other girls. Here is the website:

hi ,, i am 21 and i too have this problem of continuous bleeding ...it started when i was 18 ...then doctor suggested me to get an tsh test ..results tell that i have hypo thyrodism so doc started giving me thyronorm 50 mg ,,,for some months it was all good but then sudden cramps occured and the problem started all over again ...I hardly have any pains in normal cycles but due to the medicines that doctor has recommended this time which is crisanta is causing severe pain since last 3 days with a heavy blood shed ..what must i do ...and what can be the cause?

I started taking Lo Loestrin Fe in December of 2011, it is now March of 2012 and I have had two to three periods a month each month. This month is the first month that I have only had two lightish periods and even then my cramping can get pretty bad. I am irritable and I feel sick to my stomach and hardly feel like eating ever. Now I've developed this thing where my stomach is constantly upset and the sight of food makes me want to throw up! I didn't eat anything for a whole day and never got hungry once! I don't think this is normal........

Thank you FDAOnwatch. I am definitely reporting this to the FDA. My cycle just started up AGAIN out of nowhere. I am early in week 2 of the pills! I see why this is birth control--you don't want to have sex when you are bleeding 24/7.

I thought it was just me.i tried these horrible pills and bled like crazy. Its been three weeks and it hasn't stopped. I tried to go off the pill,bad idea flood gates opened from missing one pill and bleeding was worse..Help me!!!

I started taking LoLoestrin Fe a month ago. I started bleeding in the second week and have been bleeding heavily since. Today it went from heavy to a literal river. I called my doctor and she advise me to skip the placebo pills and go straight into my second pack.. I'm calling her in the am to tell her I refuse to take these god forsaken pills and I want a new prescription. I still haven't ruled out going to the hospital. I am soaking through an ultra tampon and a full overnight pad in 30 minutes. I'm light headed, weak, tired and feel sick. I'm petrified at the amout of blood i'm losing. This pill is horrible and should not be taken under any circumstances. It needs to be pulled off the market.
