Legal Suit Against The Makers Of Nasonex

In December I was diagnosed w/ cataracts in both eyes (I'm only 54). Two days ago I heard an ad on TV for Nasonex & it mentioned cataracts were a possible side effect. I used Nasonex for a few months a couple of years ago & I just bet it's the culprit behind my eye problems. Anyone else in the same boat as me?
I was 52 yrs old and diagnosed with cataracts. I have began using Nasonex & Flonase since the late 90's, when they first entered the market. Eye doctor said it was from steroids - I didn't realize the nose spray had steroids that caused cataracts. Is there any class action litigation?
I just found out the same thing today! "Self-induced" what the doctor called from using a steriod (Nasanex). Same age 54, no family history!
I am- all happening right now. I'm 50 and used it 3-mo a year for last few years.
I used Nasonex for years. I think it was the cause of trigeminal neuralgia.
I am suffering from paralyses of the third nerve to the eye , I have double vision and a dropped eyelid. This is after six days in Nasonex
I am a 22 year old male, in good health. I'd been taking Nasonex for about 8 years seasonally, and developed a subcapsular posterior cataract in my left eye in march of 2016. Fast forward to october and I have cataract surgery - now I've got an Alcon IOL. Every ophthalmologist who saw me said the same thing - Nasonex had to be the cause.
The fact the cataract was subcapsular is indicative of the fact it was steroidal in nature, because steroidal cataracts do not cloud the entire lens like a cataract from old age would.
I have NEVER taken any other steroidal medications or substances, nor have I experienced any eye injury. My insurance covered the procedure, but it still stunk to have to go through that.
Anyone reading this - if you take Nasonex, be warned you may develop a cataract.
I've switched to Nasalcrom and am avoiding steroidal medication religiously to prevent forming a cataract in my other eye, once was hellish enough.
That surgery will stick with me until I'm too old to remember what happened. Thanks, Nasonex!
Three years ago had a bad cold with severe runny nose. I was prescribed Nasonex and used only 3 times. (I hate to use any medicine and don't take any pills for headaches or cold) Since then I lost my sense of smell completely. Now I am used to not been able to smell or taste anything but was really upset that using it 3 times ONLY my life changed tremendously. The pharmaceutical company should be suit for having this product in the market. Also, reading about the scabs I also have them since and it seems to kind of block the nasal septums, therefore I need to clean it constantly if I want to breath normally.
Unreal.
This warning was not on Nasonex at the time of my using it. They have only recently added it to their label.
"I have cataracts and would not have taken them if I had known." Since the drug's manufacturer discloses the possibility of developing cataracts in connection with use of their product, it's your failure to read the information, not their failure to provide it, that is the cause if your not having known. So sue yourself.
If a drug's manufacturer says, "Use of our product may cause cataracts", and you use the drug despite that information, you have then taken the risk on yourself. If you wind up with cataracts, the drug company isn't "getting away with" anything.
I've been using nasal sprays on a very regular basis for over 35 years with only the occasional nose bleed
I am 44 year female. I just went to the doctor yesterday to schedule the first of what he said will be 3 to 4 surgeries to repair my damaged septum. I have a huge hole. I am being told they have no idea why!!! Here's the kicker.. I have been prescribed Flonase off and on for the last 2 years! Also 17 years ago when I was pregnant, was the first time it was prescribed to me. Back then I used it twice, had my very first bloody nose so discontinued use at that time. Now i am dealing with this nightmare. I should have never started using it again! I didn't think this was going to happen. I didn't use it chronically. I didn't even use it everyday!
I was diagnosed with cataracts in both eyes at the age of 11. That's right, 11 years old. I had gone through various reading glasses and finally had an eye exam in which they took an X-ray of my eyes and told me I had cataracts and recommended me to an opthamologist. He agreed with the optometrist and said that given my age and my daily use of Nasonex for almost 5 years, he diagnosed an oral steroid in the medication as the culprit. This was before Nasonex had the warning of ocular side effects in their ads. I went through the surgeries to remove the cataracts and receive the false lenses when I was 12. This was a very scary time for me as I had never had ANY kind of surgery before. My parents insurance seemed to cover the surgeries and such but I now, and for the rest of my life, require reading glasses due to the inflexibility of the lenses between distance and close. I also was told that my cataracts most likely will reform in my late 30s or 40s side the false lenses aren't always a permanent solution. So I know I have to expect another possible eye surgery down the road. I'm 24 now and just understanding that this was something that could have possibly been prevented if I hadn't used the Nasonex. I'm not sure if they carry an age restriction on the drug now? I just thought I would share my story as it seems a lot of people have had similar cases with their cataracts.
I was prescribed nasal steroids in the 1990's. Nasonex and Flonase are the ones I can remember. I used it very little, but periodically. Within about a year, sores came up in my nose that have grown. I have to scrape the scabs off about 10x's a day or they close off my nostril and I can't breath. They bleed profusely many times a day. I have scraped the scabs so much these many years till my septum has moved over time and severely deviated causing breathing problems and apnea at night. I have read that you can scrape so much till it puts a hole all the way through your septum. It's scary and stops me from going out much bc they bleed so much. These nasal steroids cause nasal fungal infections that actually eat through your septum. It's a horror story. These nasal steroids have stolen my life and there was no warnings on the packages or with the meds from the pharmacy. We need to sue their behinds off. They are evil.
They don't heal, but get worse. I have them and I have to scrape the scabs out of my nose or they grow and grow till it closes your nostril off. I have to scrape them at least 10 times a day and they bleed, sometimes profusely. They started back in 1990's after using nasal steroid sprays prescribed by doctors. Nasonex, Flonase and some others. I have scraped the worst side so much till it has made my septum crooked and I have read that you can scrape it so much till it makes a hole in the septum. I would love to sue these companies and win. They have stolen my life.
I have used Nasonex for years. This past year I have had so many eye problems. My left eye I am constantly having mucus in my eyes and it running constantly. I brought Nasonex up to my eye doctor just last year and she said, it wasn't nasonex. I thought it had to be, because it is the only medication that I take regularly. I have the start of cataracts in both my eyes. I will be 50 this year. Is there any way safe to treat my eyes?
If your wife is 60 years old, getting cataracts, even without eye issues, is common. You don't mention how long she used Nasonex, but if it was only a few weeks, I can't imagine that they're connected.
Same thing with my Mom. She used Nasonex for the last 5 years for bronchitis and nasal infections and developed Glacoma and cataracts. Now her eyes are bleeding and she's lost her sight completely in one eye.. good eye is now bleeding and losing sight in it. I don't care if anyone gets any money, This needs to be stopped. I used it several years ago sporadily during allergy season and now i'm getting far sighted and have to use readers when I never had to before.
I had surgery in both eyes last November and December. They were fast growing cataracts from steroids. I used Nasonex in the past. I would definitely like to be a part of a lawsuit against the pharmecuetical company that produces Nasonex.
In either 2004 or 2005 (My husband passed in 2006) my husband has a sinus infection and was subsequently prescribed antibiotics and also NASONEX nasal spray. He used both for a week or so; the sinus infection cleared, BUT one day he said he saw a "black spot" in one of his eyes. By my looking, I couldn't see anything. We went to see an Opthamologist and as she was looking with instruments into his eye asked him if he had been using a nasal spray with "steriods" in it. Of course my husband say he had but didn't know what was in the nasonex since he was prescribed it and trusted the doctor. Apparently what was going on was the nasonex had caused my husband's eye to bleed internally. Without going into detail here, please get back to me and I will tell you what happened to my husband, how long it took to stop the bleeding and also saw a top-notch lawyer in New Haven, CT who would not touch the case because there were no precedents and didn't want to fight the pharmaceutical. PLEASE GET BACK TO ME!!!
