Is your drug Metanx a prescription filled dosage? If it does require a prescription, then it is most likely not available over the counter, and I believe you would have to contact your physician to refill.

Many people experience problems with the methylation cycle in the body. This is too complicated to explain here but please study this as much as you can. I do not have diabetic neuropathy but do have macrocytosis (enlarged red blood cells). This is usually caused by low B12 and folate. The methyl forms of B12 and folate must be used for proper absorption. While Metanx contains the methyl forms of B12, folate, and B6 (P-5-P), you can also purchase these independently from many sources. As you may know folic acid and folate are not the same. Many foods and B-Complex supplements are fortified with folic acid. However, many people lack the proper enzymes to convert folic acid to folate. In this case folic acid accumulates in the body and has been linked to neurological problems, cancers, etc. It seems to always come down to the old phrase "If nature didn't make it do not consume it".
