Hi alex,

Based on my research, Actigut contains the main ingredient Lactobacillus Acidophilus. Lactobacillus Acidophilus is a strain of good bacteria also known as as a probiotic which can help to prevent colds and treat/ relieve symptoms of certain gastrointestinal issues like irritable bowel syndrome, diarrhea, and Crohn's disease. It is also used to treat vaginal yeast infections and urinary tract infections. Some strains of Lactobacillus spp. and other lactic acid bacteria may possess potential therapeutic properties including anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer activities, as well as other features of interest.

Side effects associated with Lactobacillus Acidophilus are usually mild and most commonly include intestinal gas or bloating. Those with "short bowel syndrome" may be more likely to develop Lactobacillus infections.

I don't know if this will help but I was diagnosed with Crohn's disease several years ago though I am fortunate not to be symptomatic (at least, not often). I have found Culturelle brand lactobacillus to be extremely helpful. I used to suffer from chronic constipation, to the point where once or twice/week was the norm for me. Culturelle has changed my "schedule" to daily and I no longer have bloating, fatigue, cramps, etc. I have found it on the vitaminshoppe website for the best price; otherwise most drug stores sell it for $25 or $30 for 30 gelcaps.
