Hydrocodone Urine Test (Page 2)

I just tasted a little lortab, not even 2 mg and I had to drug test about 12 hours later. I had a urine test that was sent to the lab. Will this show up? I have not been taking anything at all for a long time.

I take Lortab regularly and also drink heavily. Is this double trouble on my liver???

Kevin, yes, that is giving your liver a double whammy!

Regular intake of alcohol definitely has an effect on your liver and the Lortab contains Acetaminophen, and the long term use of it can also have detrimental effects on the liver, as well as other body organs.

On top of the possible liver issues that you are creating, you may also be doing a severe number on your stomach, so you may end up with conditions such as ulcers or gastritis.

While it may seem that they are causing no problems right now, these types of issues usually start very slowly, with no symptoms and are pretty severe by the time you show symptoms and are diagnosed.

What are some signs of liver damage/failure??? @Lisa. I didnt have a liver test. Im sure I would fail miserably though.

I am currently prescribed Lortab for severe pain in my neck. I normally take them whole but was told by a friend that if I cut them in half they will work more effectively and longer. Is there any truth to this?? Cause I need them to work better and longer because I don't want to have to take more. Also when I split them in half they hurt my throat and seem to get stuck. Can anyone help with this question??

Kevin, no, there is no truth in that. These are regular release tablets, so cutting them in half will not make them work faster, nor will it improve their effectiveness.

As to why they seem to get stuck in your throat, after you cut them, it is likely because you are damaging/removing part of the protective coating that makes them easier to swallow.

Thanks Verwon. I was also told that taking them with Pop/Soda helps too because the carbonation breaks them down faster. I prefer to drink water. Is there any truth to taking them with Pop/Soda helps? Also I have Crohns disease. Would cutting in half lessen the possibilty of them passing through me before getting absorbed or is that a myth?? Im my head I thought it would be better to take whole cause easier to swallow and last longer cause they dont break down as fast. Your opinion???

Kevin, no and no.

They are best taken with water, just like you have been doing.

And cutting them in half would actually increase the chance of them moving through faster and not being absorbed.

The outer coating that I mentioned before is actually supposed to help with this, as well.

No, thats the only questions I have for now. Thanks again. I will take them whole with water. Hopefully that will work best. I am just trying to get the most out of them because I strongly do not want to ask doctor for more. If anything less would be better. Thanks Again for the advise Verwon.

Verwon. I took my Lortab today whole and with water and I have to say I think they are more effective cut in half with soda. Am I crazy??? Didnt seem to relieve my neck/back pain or kick in as quickly.

Verwon. Do you know of any ways to enhance the effects of my Lortabs without taking more??? I dont want to take more than I have to but dont know how to get the best results for what I do take. They don't seem to be working much anymore. Thanks

I am 67 and have been on various pain relievers since 2003, Lortab, vicodin and now oxycodone for 6 yrs. I have had injections, P.T.'s (6) Chyropractors(7), tests upon tests, x-ray, CT. CAT, and etc. The result is Ostioarthritis along with bone spurs which create a 24-7 life of misery. I have contemplated sotopping it all and my family intervened on one occassion to stop me. I hurt so bad and it is like there is no doctor who believes I can be experiancing this much pain. I get 180 percocets per month and can barely get through, ergo I have to seek other sources thanks to friends who are connected. Without them I am sure I would be dead by now. The doctor I see will not change my med, says there is nothing else. I would rather be addicted that to live with this constand hurt. I sleep about 3 to 4 hours a night if I am lucky. I h ave tried massage, accupuncture and other forms of alternative approaches and continue to look for something that will make my life worth continuting to live. If I don't, just exactly how much longer I have left is uncertain. I have one chance to possibly see anothe doctor who may be more compassionate and Hippocratic in his practice. The doctor I am going to I like because he is nice, but when it comes to treatement, don't even broach the subject. I have been told once I can leave if I wish and it would not bother him. I have mentioned taking my own life to him, but get absolutely no remarks from him regarding it. I believe he thinks I am just trying to scam him. From what I have read on this post, I doubt thee is much you can say. Find another doctor. It is not easy as I had on to tell me to leave because I legally challanged her for not providing my cholestrole level results with me. I told her she was legally obligated to do so and she told me to leave.

I wish I could help you Lisa but I dont know. I have the opposite problem. DOES ANYONE KNOW? I have a drug test with my doctor next week and am supposed to have Lortab 7.5 in my system. 3 per day. I havent had any in a couple weeks. If I take one the night before my drug test will it show up ok in my urine?? I am just wondering cause I will get cut off for not having them in my system just the same as if he finds something in my system that shouldnt be there. How many would I need to take and how long before the test do I need to take them to show up like I taking 3/day like I'm supossed to?? Could anyone PLEASE help me???

I find it odd that I am now at odds with my pharmacy insurance. I tried to get my perscription one day early as I have done in the past six to seven years and they say I am two days too soon. I use up one of my vacation thingies and get the perscrip or I'm going to die. so with a little help I am able to make it through. I go to the Dr.s office on the 30th go to the pharamacy and my perscription insurance now says I am two days too early. How can I win. I am trying to get another connection to make it through so I don't go to the dr until the 31 and see what happens this time. By the way. My dr is now giving me two perscriptions so I don't have to come in every month. Before He was doing this and took away the perscription and now he's giving it back. Wish there were some kind of legal ethics these guys had to follow. And yes you have guessed it I am still alive, but for how long only I will know that for sure.

I had bad dental pain went to my probation officer and filled her in on everything.she said ok.got a script for 7.5 loratabs on the 24th of Feb my p.o. tested me on the 28 said I tested pos for oxycodone and then said dont worry you have a script but she sent it to the lab anyway the chain of custody(2pages) was checked gc/ms opiates return results codeine neg morphine neg hydrocodone pos 904 hydromorphone pos 452 oxycodone pos 272 cut off for all is 150 Im confused I didnt take any oxycodone I did take the loratabs more often than prescribed (bad pain) along with some B C powders I was arrested on the 19th of march for probation violation Im not a drug offender cant get any info from the lab about the test what could have happened? how do I prove Im not guilty. WTF!!! this isnt right this is time sensitive Im facing 10 yrs if I cant prove this wrong thanks

I understand where Kevin is coming from. I recently had my 5th metacarpal bone in my hand severely broken. The e.r. gave me lortab 7.5/500. they worked ok. when i went to see the ortho. doc., they gave me methadone even when i said the lortab worked good. i recently had my car break down and have to walk everywhere. so i filled the script of methadone at the closest pharmacy i could walk to. once i got my car back, i called my doctor and set an appointment. i told them that the methadone was making me feel sick more than anything, so i was put back on lortabs. i was able to fill that script at my normal pharmacy, which is owned and run by the same pharmacy as the other one, i just like the selection in the store better, so that is where i chose to go. anyway, my ortho found out that i used two (same name ) pharmacies, and got a diff. script from my doctor because theirs wasnt working. so they cut me off. is that legal? i have the letter explaing exactly why they did it, and it doesnt make sense to me. can someone help me? explain to me what i did wrong? i thought that was what having a primary care physician was for. to help "perfect" treaments. i also understand that a specialist is there to treat special situations. but if what they are doing doesnt work, does them acting like a child that always has to be right and dropping me like that make it legal for them to do? just wondering.

They all bulls***. Around here they poke and prod and try to find ways to drop people as patients if they need pain meds. I guess maybe they dont wanna deal with the DEA or something. My girlfriend was dropped because she came up clean in a piss test. She wasn't taking them as often as they prescribed her. She would try to go several days without and only take them when in extreme pain to make them last. That doesnt seem right either. Its like your damned if you take em and damned if you dont. If you look at a doctor wrong they just drop ya now a days.ocjmjk

I got cut off Norco 10/325 after being on them for a yr. for a genetic defect of my spine and a surgery gone wrong. The pain management dr. said that a urine test showed no presence of the pain meds and I was unable to b persribed by them because they believe I am either selling or giving them away. I am very upset because I don't do anything like that! So now,I will not only have to deal w pain but withdrawal at the same time! I am prescribed UP TO 4X day. Since I may only take 2 and have none in my system over 14 hrs later I am cut off? No wonder there is such a prob w addiction. Des.r prescribing them long term but without any responsibility for patients' certain dependence /addiction?! Hope my PCP can help me. BTW would any1 know whether Wellbutrin will effect metabolism of Norco by the liver?

I have taken 7.5/500 hydrocodon for back & hip issues for two years. My doctor had me take a urine test & now tells me I tested negative. I explained that I had not taken any for over five days. He requested a more extensive urine test on the first sample I gave 4 days ago, explaining that it should show up with this test if I have been taking them. Is this true?
