How Long Do Augmentin Side Effects Last? (Page 3)

Firstly a disclaimer, if you have just eaten and have a soft stomach, avoid this post. You've been warned.

My dentist prescribed a two week regime of Augmentin for minor work that needs to be performed on a tooth. I finished the prescription one week ago. And I still have some odd side effects.

Before I started taking this, I had a normal energy level where I could exercise and do my work, etc. Now I have wayyyyyy too much energy and even though I start to feel drowsy at my regular time when I got to bed, I can't fall asleep until 2 -3 hours later.

The other effect I've been experiencing are dry lips. This is annoying. There is no change in saliva and my mouth is just as moist as before taking Augmentin.

Also during the last three weeks it's been as my appetite has been suppressed, but now it has returned with a vengeance where I eat more a lot. It would be equivalent to opening the flood gates on a dam.

Here's the disgusting part.

I've noticed that the color of my feces has changed from a light brown to an extremely dark brown.

Other than that I've been taking a probiotic three times a day, which I started two days ago. And eating Greek yougurt.

So I would like to know, is it common for side effects to last after taking Augmentin? How long will they last? And if you have any ideas on this, please let me know.

I went to re with very high np and they said I had diverticulitis and gave me amici clav 825/125 for 7 days the first pill I took came back up. But I thought I had better finish this med so I could feel better. What a nightmare! Was very nauseated started to sweat a lot. Do not feel like eating, it has been 14 days since last pill and I am still having bad effects from that medication. I will NEVER take it again. I only hope these side effects are not forever. Lord help us all.

YESTERDAY I TOOK JUST ONE DOSE OF AUGMETON 1G.NOW I AM FACING THE PROBLEM OF WEAKNESS OF LIP, EYE AND CHEEK MUSCLES OF MY RIGHT SIDE.I DISCONTINUED..HOW LONG SHOULD I WAIT TO GO TO DOCTOR IF NECESSARY. PLEASE.

my doctor gave me Augmentin for an upper respiratory issue and I took it twice a day for about 8 days and then I stopped because my whole body started to itch (no rash) it has been almost two weeks since I stopped the meds and my body still itches all over like crazy (still no rash) I have no clue what's going on! any ideas?

I was prescribed Augmentin for a chronic sinus issue. During the 10 day treatment I had stomach cramps, bloating, gas, which caused awful chest pains. I finished the prescription nearly 2 months ago and I am still having problems with gas, bloating, my right hand swells, I have numbness and tingling in my fingertips, and my face twitches. None of this happened before taking the augmentin. I really feel helpless and depressed about the situation. I told my doc and she said she didn't think it was the augmentin but I certainly do. Needless to say if I had to do it over again, you could NOT pay me too.

I just finished a prescription of augmentin 875 -125 call for ten days, no problem, now It seems, I have a bladder infection!
I have been off it for about a week. Is it to soon to take another prescription of amoxicillin 500 three times a day for 10 days?

it is normal for it to last for weeks depending on the umber of days you have been on treatment. if it do not last or persist , you have to see your doctor

I've been taking augmentin as prescribed by a doctor after having a minor operation, but after using it I got a side effect (vaginal yeast).. Can anyone advise me on how long I might suffer from this side effect? Or should I see my doctor?

First day diarrhea. Took Probiotic and no further issues! Highly recommend. Just bought generic Acidophilus

Wash the lesions with the palest pink solution of potassium permanganate in warm water. It will feel lovely. (Darker pink will burn). Then apply antibiotic ointment. Over!
( Diprogenta is a good ointment.)

I had this on my feet from a spider in DC. The cure was in Kenya, and instant.

You are absolutely right! This is a very dangerous antibiotic and they should just get rid of it.

I encountered a hornet bite in July. The entire back of my index finger was beet red, and it did not go away when we left on a trip. Long story short, my hand is swollen shut in the morning when I wake up, and my primary dr gave me augmentin about 2 weeks ago which was a huge mistake. After 4 days I could barely walk and had to back out of the bed in the morning. My legs swelled a bit and are still swollen (Ocober 23). My hips ache, my joints are swollen and red, and the knuckle on my right hand is about twice the regular size. Went to another doctor who thought that the immune system went after the venom in my hand when I took the antibiotic and caused the havoc in my system. The pain has subsided a bit, but it is still present. The medication is not for sissies!!!

See answer 51. Instant relief with PALEST pink potassium permanganate in warm water. Venom is not histamine. I had relief even after it had spread on my foot.

I took Augmentin for a toothache on 2-2-2016; 1 tab every 8 hours for 10 days. My stomach started hurting first, then my urine turned dark like root beer, I had bloody stool and threw up blood, my eyes turned yellow and my skin turned orange..I was hospitalized twice last year and once this year. I was diagnosed with cirrhosis to my liver.

My daughter was on augmenting for 10 days. The last day was Thursday of the medication was Thursday and then Friday it looked like mosquito all over her legs,arms , neck and a few on face. Some even looked raised and swollen. Now her one eye is swollen. Could this be a side affect of the medicine? She has been off the medicine for 3 days and is still itchy and has the spots.

this augmentine should be banned.i took it for dental treatment >..got an upset stomach....months im not the same .my ten year old nephew took it for uti woke up with super swollen eyes.......its a scary drug.stay away
