Can The Drug Ice Also Known As Methamphetamine And/or Any Type Of Speed Make You Have Withdrawel Symptoms While On The Medication Methadone?

I recenty spoke to my sister in law about a new medication she was prescribed by the name of methadone along w/ other meds that is suppose to help her with disc degenerative disease! It didn't take long to notice her old habit had not kick the bucket since the diagnosis, so she's continuing to abuse all the drugs and states she doesn't feel the methadone as well as the other medications while taking ICE (methamphetamine) and SPEED! If this is true, what could be causing this? Please let me know thanks!

For one thing she has to quit the methamphetamine. I took methamphetamine for twenty years and managed to quit after a nice long stay in prison. I've been clean for 5 years now and I am on methadone. It works very well if you get on the right dose but you wont be able to feel anything else if you're on methamphetamine because if its good its way stronger than anything else.

Well of course she won't feel the methamphetamine as well. It would speed her up. Methadone would slow her down. She should know that. Methadone has been around since world war ll. It was created because they ran out of morphine for pain in Germany. It was used for pain in Europe for a long time. Not so much here. Then in the 60s when our Vietnam soldiers started coming home addicted to heroin and opium, 2 doctors from New York started using it on heroin addicts. Though they became addicted to heroin, when used correctly, it works. It take away the horrible craving from heroin. So they can concentrate on other things. It also block withdrawals so they can become productive people again. Get a job, get healthy, become a better parent, cause you're not out looking for dope all the time.

But... Methadone can be abused too. It takes a committed person and some counseling along the way. It works great for pain. But your sister is just abusing it.
