Easy Life On Warfarin - St Jude Mechanical Valve
Sunday, 6/21/2009 4:27:49 AM in Warfarin
Easy to live with warfarin once you get your INR settled..the alternative is not so attractive!! IThe best advice is to accept it and work with it, not against it, and hav a doctor you trust. I now have my bloods done monthly which is gr8 after all the weekly tests..not a big deal..I hav a St Jude INR testing machine at home, its just like a blood test machine my mum has for her diabetes, I can use it to monitor my INR but choose to go to the blood collection agency ..thats my choice..before my op I loved a few drinks, take away, and smokes etc.. but after mitral valve replacement am happy to be alive with warfarin as my only medication..get to live and see my children & grandchildren every day..how blessed.

I will like to know why is the drug Coumadin being discontinued. I am from Trinidad WI and I have been informed that the drug is no longer being manufactured. I will like to know what is the reason for this and what are persons like myself who have been on it for 22 years, to do or take in its stead.

Coumadin Vs Warfarin
Friday, 5/8/2009 4:27:50 PM in Warfarin
My mom was on coumadin for many years but then her insurance company told her she had to take warfarin as this is the one they would pay for. Is there really any different in these two drugs? It seems to me that she has been having more problems with the warfarin (keeping this medication at the right level) than the coumadin. I was told they were the same medications and do the same. I just wanted to know if some people have difficulties taking warfarin vs coumadin??? Thanks.

Plavix Vs Clavix
Monday, 5/4/2009 6:48:12 PM in Plavix
Hi, my mother underwent an angioplasty last month and she is taking plavix and ecosprin along with other medicines. Now the doctor has suggested that we can start using clavix instead of plavix as plavix is very expensive.
But I'm sceptical about it and would like to know wether Clavix is really as good as Plavix.
Thanks,
Kris

Plavix And Vyvanse
Sunday, 5/3/2009 4:04:02 AM in Plavix
I have Narcolepsy and have been taking various drugs (e.g. Adderall, Dexotrine, Vyvanse) for the condition for the past 8 years. I recently had stints inserted into two arteries (one was almost completely closed). My wife feels that I should not take any stimulant medications since being diagnosed with artery problems. She is also convenienced that stimulant drugs cause me to be quick to anger and also increase intensity of anger. Please advise.

Why does a doctor put a patient on coumadin? I was put on it after developing a blood clot after aneurysm surgery. And have been on it for lmost two years.

Aggrenox
Monday, 3/9/2009 6:54:23 PM in Coumadin
my father is on 10mg of coumadin, and he was recently prescribed aggrenox. He is also taking k/dur, demadex, xanax, lortab, ambien, lexapro, and teveten. I am worried that there is a danger in him taking aggrenox because of the fact that it contains aspirin.

Dietary Restrictions
Monday, 3/9/2009 6:54:41 AM in Coumadin
My mother is on coumadin and can't seem to get regulated. Her arms are very sore and bruised because of all the blood tests. She was just told to cut down on leafy green vegetables. Is there anything else that might help?
