Splitting Pills To Attain Proper Dosage Thursday, 11/5/2009 2:24:24 AM in Lisinopril My 73 yr old husband was just put on Lisinopril 5 mg daily in addition to the half-tablet of 25 mg HCTZ he's been taking. The pharmacy gave him 10 mg Lisinopril which he is to cut in half but it is not designed to cut. When I try to cut it with the best pill cutter I could find, many of them us crush or cut unevenly. What can I do? I end up with a handful of crumbs that are not usable. 5 Replies

Metoprolol & Hair Loss Wednesday, 11/4/2009 12:48:28 PM in Metoprolol I have been taking 200 mg. a day for about 4 years. I thought it was a coincidence that I've lost 50% of my hair during this time because I am also going through menopause. I just found out that it is possible the hair loss is caused by metoprolol, so my doctor just wrote me a RX for a different drug. Will my hair grow back? It was very long, down to my waist, but I've been cutting it to compensate for the thinness. I just touch my head and lose a few hairs! Any ideas? 6 Replies

Metoprolol Side Effects Friday, 10/23/2009 5:38:40 PM in Metoprolol I started Metoprolol Tartrate 25mg being one tab every 12 hours. I was in the hospital with pressure of 200/130 , sometimes higher with high pulse and irregular heartbeat. I experienced tightening in chest, slight difficulity in breathing, and extreme variables in my pressures. Most of the time they are in the normal range, but occasionally my systolic has dropped under 100 and my diastolic was 58. I am monitoring my foods and am also taking Ativan twice daily. I am terrified. Anybody else have these variables in pressures.? I have only been on the medicines for four weeks now. I have had diabetes and thyroid neg testing. I was diagnosed with Panic Disorder??? Never heard of it before. All my family including five sibbkings have high blood pressure as well. 1 Reply

Lisinopril Side Effects Friday, 10/23/2009 5:08:38 PM in Lisinopril Was on Lisinopril for at least one year. Over time developed bad asthma (at first thought must be having anxiety attacks due to feeling shortenss of breath as though breathing with only partial lung, but have never had anxiety!) and Reynauds Syndrome. Told Dr. about worsening nerve symptoms making my feet feel as though freezing, couldn't even sleep at night from discomfort despite rest of body felt normal. No useful or focused response. Progressed to up to my knees and feet and toes turning awful colors like a diabetic with no circulation. Asthma progressed until waking up gasping for air so hard my back hurt for days afterward. Finally, happened to see my ENT who called me 30 minutes after I left her office and told me to stop Lisinopril right away. Stopped it and symptoms cleared up 90 + percent! 1 Reply
