Lamictal Availability
UpdatedHi. My name is Gary. I need to find a generic form of Lamictal. My dr. says I can mail order my prescription online but the pills need to be made by Glaxo Smith Kline. These pills are super expensive maybe 600-800 per month! I know about Lamotrigine, but there are a few different manufacturers out there? Thank you to any one willing to help.

The manufacturer should not matter as the generic substance is going to be the same no matter who makes it.
Do not use lamotrigine manufactured by Zydus. Check the web, lots of problems. I think Teva is ok. I used to think generics were exact duplicates - Not any more!
My doc specifically instructed the pharmacist to use any generic BUT NOT TEVA. He said it's made in Turkey or somewhere like that where regulations are more lax. He said there have been more problems with TEVA than other generics.
hi gary, currently on EPITEC a generic of LAMICTAL, I live in SOUTH AFRICA though and am not sure if you are able to obtain this drug wherever you may be. Been on it now for two months and have had no problems whatsoever, hope this is of benefit to you.
Cosco has generic lamictal for less than 10.00,and you don't need a cosco membership.I was paying over 100.00 at Walgreens, and couldn't believe I was paying that much when I found this out!
I’ve been taking Lamictal for 18 years. The best generic manufacturer of Lamictal is produced by Teva. Stay away from Cipla. The generic of Lamictal is called Lamotrigine. You can find the brand name drug by Glaxo Smith Kline from the UK for about $160 for 150 mg, or from Canada for about $240.
Teva Lamotrigine has been on backorder for months. My pharmacies are not able to order this drug. I contacted the FDA and US Dept Public Health. Please send an email to the drug shortage watch at US DEPT of Public Health at:
[email protected]
Let them know you need this medication! Teva told the US Dept of Public Health their Lamotrigine was not back-ordered. Then 5 days later sent me an email apologizing for the backorder and the drug and that it is is due to be shipped out sometime in March. Why is Teva giving false information out to the FDA? The only generic available to me is by Cipla and I reported to the FDA last year that it made me sick. That’s all the pharmacies have in my area. Please help!
The generic manufacturer does make a difference, esp since genetics vary in % to brand. I highly recommend Teva Lamotrigine. Walgreens carries it, I think it’s the best. Stay away from Cipla
